A tiny desktop app that spawns a pixel character on your screen to remind you to stand up every X minutes. Runs in the background with a system tray icon on Linux and macOS.
- Fullscreen transparent overlay with a walking pixel mascot and speech bubble
- Configurable reminder interval (5–120 minutes, default 30)
- System tray: Settings, Pause/Resume, Quit
- Auto-dismiss after 60 seconds if you ignore the reminder
- Node.js 18+
- Rust
- Platform deps per Tauri prerequisites
sudo dnf install webkit2gtk4.1-devel openssl-devel curl wget file libappindicator-gtk3-devel librsvg2-develnpm install
npm run tauri devOn first launch, look for the tray icon. Left-click opens Settings; right-click opens the menu.
npm run tauri buildArtifacts land in src-tauri/target/release/bundle/.
| Platform | Behavior |
|---|---|
| macOS | Transparency uses the macOS private API (macOSPrivateApi: true). Overlay stays on top as expected. |
| Linux (X11) | alwaysOnTop works normally. |
| Linux (Wayland) | alwaysOnTop is unreliable — the overlay may slip behind other windows. Workaround: run under X11: XDG_SESSION_TYPE=x11 npm run tauri dev |
- Launch the app — only the tray icon appears.
- Open Settings and set your interval, then Save.
- When the timer fires, a pixel character walks in with “Time to stand up!”
- Click Got it or press Escape to dismiss.
- Use Pause reminders in the tray menu when you do not want interruptions.
