Icon Placement
A Diagram Notation may specify that a given Stem Position displays an icon either at the Root (face) end of a Stem, at the Vine (opposite face) end or both ends.
An association Stem Position, in Starr notation, displays an arrow head on the vine end of the stem, where it touches the binary connector. In xUML and Starr notation the superclass Stem Position displays a wide white triangle at the root end of the superclass Stem Position.
And an initial transition Stem Position shows a filled solid circle at the vine end and an open arrowhead on the root end.
