Replaces insecure `Math.random()` with `crypto.getRandomValues()` for jitter calculation in `background.js`. Includes updated tests and records the learning in the Sentinel journal. Co-authored-by: n24q02m <135627235+n24q02m@users.noreply.github.com>

π Jules, reporting for duty! I'm here to lend a hand with this pull request. When you start a review, I'll add a π emoji to each comment to let you know I've read it. I'll focus on feedback directed at me and will do my best to stay out of conversations between you and other bots or reviewers to keep the noise down. I'll push a commit with your requested changes shortly after. Please note there might be a delay between these steps, but rest assured I'm on the job! For more direct control, you can switch me to Reactive Mode. When this mode is on, I will only act on comments where you specifically mention me with New to Jules? Learn more at jules.google/docs. π¨ Severity: MEDIUM
π‘ Vulnerability: The application used the cryptographically insecure
Math.random()function to calculate exponential backoff jitter in network retry logic (background.js). While often sufficient for non-sensitive random distributions, relying onMath.random()establishes an insecure pattern that might be copied or expanded to sensitive areas (e.g., generating session IDs or CSRF tokens) in browser extensions.π― Impact: Predictability can be exploited in certain timing or entropy-depletion attacks.
π§ Fix: Replaced
Math.random()withcrypto.getRandomValues(new Uint32Array(1))[0] / 4294967296to generate secure random floats inbackground.jsand updated the corresponding test mocks intests/background.test.js.β Verification: Ran
node --testand confirmed all background tests pass with the new mock forcrypto.getRandomValues.PR created automatically by Jules for task 3124224403655075583 started by @n24q02m
