GPG is GnuPG, a specific implementation. This app implements OpenPGP with Bouncy Castle and contains no GnuPG at all, so the old name pointed at software that is not in it — and implied an affiliation with the GNU project that does not exist.

Changed

The app name and drawer title, the store listing, the site, the changelog, the privacy policy, the readme, and the wordmark rendered into the feature graphic. The repository is now nGoline/EasyPGP; GitHub redirects the old URLs, but every reference is updated rather than left leaning on that.

The feature graphic is regenerated from the same artwork, so the banner reads "Easy PGP" without anything being retouched by hand.

Deliberately unchanged

Why
applicationId = com.ngoline.easygpg Play treats this as the app's permanent identity. Changing it means a new listing — installs, reviews and the store URL all reset, and existing users never receive another update.
Kotlin package com.ngoline.easygpg Renaming it touches every file in the project, and nobody outside the source tree sees it.
Theme.EasyGPG and other resource names Same reasoning — internal identifiers, never user-visible.

So the package and the product name disagree from here on. That is normal — plenty of apps carry a package name from an earlier identity — and it is the trade you accepted to keep the listing.

One thing worth noticing

A blind substitution produced a listing title of "Easy PGP: PGP Encryption", which says PGP twice. It is now "Easy PGP: Message Encryption" — 28 of Play's 30 characters, and it adds a keyword rather than repeating one.

Checked

56 tests, lint clean, app builds. applicationId, the debug suffix and the workflow's packageName all verified untouched.

Still to do on your side

  1. DNS — add a CNAME for easypgp → ngoline.github.io. (trailing dot). Once it resolves I can switch the Pages custom domain over.
  2. Play Console — update the listing name and the privacy policy URL after this merges.
  3. The app name change ships with the next release, so it needs a version bump like any other change.

GPG is GnuPG, a specific implementation. This app implements OpenPGP using
Bouncy Castle and contains no GnuPG at all, so the old name pointed at software
that is not in it — and implied an affiliation with the GNU project that does
not exist.

Changed: the app name and drawer title, the store listing, the site, the
changelog, the privacy policy, the readme, and the wordmark rendered into the
feature graphic. The repository is now nGoline/EasyPGP, and GitHub redirects
the old URLs, but every reference is updated rather than left leaning on that.

Deliberately unchanged:

- applicationId stays com.ngoline.easygpg. Play treats it as the app's
permanent identity: changing it would mean a new listing, losing the installs,
reviews and store URL, and existing users would never see another update.
- The Kotlin package keeps the same name, since renaming it would touch every
file in the project and nobody outside the source tree ever sees it.
- Theme.EasyGPG and the other resource names, for the same reason.

The listing title was "Easy PGP: PGP Encryption" after a blind substitution,
which says PGP twice. It is now "Easy PGP: Message Encryption".
