Description
Commercial EDA tools like Synopsys (PrimeTime, Design Compiler, Fusion Compiler, ICC2) and Cadence (Innovus) rely predominantly on text-based terminal outputs (e.g., report_timing) for timing analysis. Even where basic GUIs exist, they lack a dedicated, highly interactive schematic-level view of timing paths.
This feature introduces a native Timing Path View within the schematic viewer. Users will be able to select, visualize, and analyze critical paths, setup/hold slacks, clock networks, and cell delays directly on the schematic canvas alongside structured timing table reports.
Value Proposition / Use Case:
Timing closure in tools like PrimeTime requires engineers to mentally map text reports to physical or logical schematics. Bringing native, interactive timing path rendering to this viewer eliminates this context-switching, accelerates timing debug, and fills a major UI/UX gap present in mainstream commercial EDA toolchains.
Basic feature list
- User can import or trigger a timing path view for a given startpoint/endpoint pair or path collection.
- The schematic canvas highlights the full data path with color coding (the clock information).
- Users can toggle Launch Clock, Data Path, and Capture Clock visibility on the schematic canvas.
- Hierarchical boundaries are preserved visually along the timing path.
