With the Docker image, the filesystem store couldn't use a mounted volume: the volume started out owned by root, and the store refused to start. Postgres stays the default for files.

  • The image creates /data/files owned by node, so a volume mounted there is writable.
  • The self-host compose.yml has the settings and volume commented out, with a link to the docs.
  • The Docker guide gains a "Files on a volume" section: why you'd choose it, a host folder instead, and backing it up together with the database. The configuration reference says to choose before any files are kept.

Tested by building the image, running the compose file with the lines uncommented, and uploading, sending and reading back an attachment. The file stayed on the volume after the container was recreated.
