The batch prior runs per question across every call a Decider serves, so a long-lived Decider (a server) gives L0 answers that depend on what it scored before, and two measured runs through it are not comparable. The only way back to a fresh prior was a new Decider, which also drops fitted heads, loaded artifacts and the content-free cache. reset_prior(question) forgets the running prior of one question, and reset_prior() of all; nothing else is touched.

Why
The batch prior keeps running per question across every call a
Deciderserves (self._running, updated in_run_adaptive_choiceand the full-cycle path). That is the documented design, and for one batch it is what you want. A long-livedDeciderbehind a server, though, gives L0 answers that depend on everything it has scored before.I ran into this while benchmarking AnyJev L0 behind a small HTTP adapter (one
Deciderper process). A second measured run through the same adapter did not reproduce the first: its prior already included the first run's items. The only way back to a fresh prior was a newDecider, which also drops fitted heads, loaded L1 artifacts, observations and the content-free cache. So I had to restart the adapter process before every run.Change
Decider.reset_prior(question=None)forgets the running prior of one question, or of every question when called with no argument. Nothing else changes.docs/levels.mdmentions it where the running prior is described.tests/test_decider_fake.pychecks three things:prior_method == "none"and matches a freshDeciderexactly;reset_prior()with no argument clears all questions.Tests
