No commits were garbage-collected — every dropped commit is still reachable through the linked compare views in the org-wide Force Push History table above.
Commit data used two independent sources, merged. (1) The before...head compare of every push event, which attributes commits to specific branches and captures non-default branches; (2) GET /repos/{owner}/{repo}/commits?since&until on each default branch. The events API lagged: 23 commits present in the default-branch scan were missing from the events feed, all of them late in the window (renovate-config reported pushedAt of 2026-08-26T02:40:21Z while its newest event was 2026-08-25T21:09:04Z). Those 23 were merged in and are attributed to main, since per-branch push attribution was unavailable for them. Conversely, the events source contributed commits on non-default branches that the second source cannot see. The merged, de-duplicated total is 201.
Events API coverage was otherwise complete. The /events endpoint caps at 300 entries; for all 23 repos the oldest retained event predates the window start, so no in-window event was truncated off the end.
Commit inclusion rule: a commit counts toward 2026-08-25 if its committer date falls in the window. 36 commits that appeared inside a push's compare range but were authored on earlier days (pre-existing history pulled in by a rebase or merge) were excluded from all counts.
Branch create/delete data comes only from the events API, which does not record the actor's force-push flag or tag events separately here; all 86 create/delete events in the window were ref_type: branch.
No rate limiting was encountered. All API calls completed; the only outright failure was the audit-log 404 described above.
Known gap: without org-level audit logging, force pushes to branches deleted before this report ran cannot be fully reconstructed (the push event survives, but its before commit may not resolve). No such case was hit today — all 178 compares succeeded.
Compaction applied to fit GitHub's 65,536-character issue-body limit. Nothing was dropped, but the following was condensed: identical commits within a repo (same author, message and branch) are merged into one row with every SHA listed and a time span; merged PRs are listed inline instead of as table rows, because each one's title is already shown as its merge commit in the same repo's commit table (open PRs keep a full table, since those are the ones needing attention); each commit row shows its primary branch plus a +N count instead of every branch the commit is reachable from; the 12 renovate "Dependency Dashboard" issues, which had no state or label change, are listed as references rather than table rows; force-push and failed-CI detail is consolidated into two org-wide tables rather than repeated per repo; and in the failed-CI table only the first run of each workflow+branch group is linked, with the rest counted and all timestamps listed. Every repo with activity is present and every commit, PR, issue, branch event, force push and failed run in the window is accounted for.

All times in this report are Eastern.nsheapsorg; 23 pre-filtered as candidates viapushedAt >= 2026-08-25T00:00:00Z, then queried in full for commits, PRs, issues, branch events and workflow runs.compare.GET /orgs/nsheaps/audit-logreturned 404 Not Found for this token (the audit log requires GitHub Enterprise Cloud or org-admin scope). The events fallback was also degraded: thePushEventpayloads returned by this token contain onlyref,before,head,push_idandrepository_id— the documentedforced,sizeandcommitsfields were absent (null) on all 178 push events, sopayload.forcedcould not be used. Force pushes were therefore derived structurally: each push'sbefore...headrange was fetched viaGET /repos/{owner}/{repo}/compare/{before}...{head}(178 calls, 0 failures) and any push whose comparison returnedstatus: "diverged"was classified as a force push. All 46 such pushes hadbehind_by: 1, i.e. a single commit dropped by a rebase onto a moved base. Every repo with activity is present and every commit, PR, issue, branch event, force push and failed run in the window is accounted for.
