Before scanning can occur, QR codes must be generated and applied to assets within the Planon ProCenter or web interface.
- Add new asset You can add a new asset to the database. You can do this 'from scratch' and fill in all data yourself, or based on an asset from the asset library, in which case most asset data is auto-populated.
- Open the app > Assets.
- Tap the plus icon at the top of the screen.
- Select Add new to add a new asset from scratch, or ...
- ... select Add from library to add a new asset based on a template (standard asset).
Select one or multiple assets in the Assets selection level and click Generate QR code.
Searching an asset by QR code You can search the database for assets by scanning the QR code of a physical asset. Procedure.
- Open the app > Assets.
- Tap the QR code scanner in the search bar.
- Scan the asset's QR code. If the asset exists in the database, it is now listed on the app.
- Tap the asset to view the asset information.
The app acts as the primary scanner for technicians and inventory managers or to create a service request.
Search by Scan: Users can tap the QR code scanner icon in the search bar of the app to instantly find a specific asset's record in the database
(only ICT) Field Integration: The scanner can be configured to populate specific fields, such as the Code field or the Asset Tag field. (only ICT) Asset Information: Once scanned, the app displays the asset's technical specifications and service history. (Everybody) create a service request for this asset.
Inventory Management Tasks owner update: change the owner of an asset (for example laptop assigned to jo wijnen) Location Updates: If an asset is moved, the scanner allows users to select a new building or space in the app to update its location in the database.
Configuration Requirements
For the scanner to function effectively within a Planon deployment, certain settings must be enabled by an application manager: Enable Scanner: The "Show QR code scanner" setting must be set to Yes within specific app modules (e.g., Inventory or Assets).
