Skybridge 64 v1.0
Skybridge 64 — v1.0
Play Wild Blue Skies with a real Nintendo 64 controller — mapped the way Star Fox 64 / Lylat Wars played on the original hardware.
Download Skybridge64-1.0.zip below, unpack it into one folder, run Skybridge64.exe. That is
the whole installation. Keep the files from the ZIP together — the program needs the library and
the driver installer that sit next to it.
One button for both shots
This is the reason the tool exists. In Star Fox 64 there is no separate button for
the tracking / lock-on shot — the same button does both, and how long you hold it decides
which one you get:
| You do | You get |
|---|---|
| Tap A | a normal laser shot |
| Hold A | the laser charges — the tracking / lock-on shot |
| Release A | the charged shot fires |
Holding past 370 ms switches from firing to charging; letting go is what releases it. Tapping is
not throttled: a press fires immediately and holding adds two follow-up shots before the laser
goes quiet — the same burst pattern as the original, up to about 15 shots per second.
The same button confirms menus and skips cutscenes, so the Xbox pad can stay in the drawer.

What is in the box
- Nothing is downloaded at runtime. Everything the program needs is in the ZIP, in plain
sight: the EXE, the ViGEm library and the ViGEmBus installer. The installer is signed by
Nefarius Software Solutions — check it yourself before anything runs, if you like. - One-click driver setup. If the ViGEmBus driver is missing, press Set up now once and
confirm the Windows prompt. No restart needed. If the silent install is blocked on your system,
the normal installer window opens instead. - No configuration. Around 40 adapter models are recognised by their USB vendor/product ID.
An unknown one asks you to press each button once and is remembered from then on. - Runs by itself. Connect the pad whenever you like; it picks it up and lets go again.
- F8 pauses and resumes, even while the game has focus.
Notes
Start Skybridge 64 first, then the game — the game picks up its controllers at startup. Other
controllers may stay plugged in.
Nintendo's wireless N64 pad must be connected over Bluetooth. Over the USB cable it reports
18 buttons and sends nonsense; the cable is for charging only. Skybridge 64 detects this and
tells you instead of firing on its own.
Windows will warn about an unknown publisher because this build is not code signed. Choose
More info → Run anyway — or build it yourself from source, it takes seconds and needs no
toolchain beyond what Windows already has.
Third-party
