Improve testing for XY hamiltonian simulation

The change of the C3 interaction coefficients in #1036 produced almost no failing test, even though the interaction coefficients changed by almost one order of magnitude. This seems to indicate that there is a hole in the tests that should be addressed.

#1112 partly addresses this issue, but it will remain open for further improvements.
