Would it be possible to have only the part of the mod that improves the automatic gearbox behavior, without all the other features?

Automatic (CFT) gearboxes aren't even implemented yet. Only manual, hydrostatic and (to an extent) powershift. CFT transmissions are working rudimentarily for now, but not at all in their expected behaviour because their control logic hasn't been coded yet. See Issue #55 for more info.

I really don't think this is feasible, since every aspect of this mod builds on one another. You can't expect realistic transmission behaviour without rolling resistance, accurate weight calculation/distribution, etc.

Additionally — may I ask which features of the full mod you dislike or why you don't want the other aspects?

I think SpartanCore33 mean the automatic shifting with manual gearboxes.
In MoreRealstic it shifts correctly from Group1-HighestGear to Group2-LowestGear, whereas in the vanilla game it shifts from Group1-HighestGear to Group2-HighestGear.

Exactly. As Robert6016 mentioned, in the base game, when a worker is driving or when the gears are managed in automatic mode, the gearbox behavior is really poor — the engine drops too much in RPM.
With this mod, however, the gear shifting works perfectly.
Would it be possible to have only the part of the mod that improves this gear shifting management for the AI workers and in automatic mode?

I would say : maybe it is easier to remove the parts you don't want rather than trying to keep only the gear shifting

the first thing to try = looking at the "RealisticMain.lua" file, and putting into "comment" the lines which references scripts that have nothing to do with gearbox/wheel/motor
