I guess we are back to the point where we were few months ago. If the kernel can't complete the testing in 4 retries (and yes, I'm not talking about EFI variables on Shikra), then someting is wrong. Please make sure that it can boot and pass the tests. Until it can do so with the minimal number of retries, NAK

Hi Dmitry Baryshkov (@lumag) / Ricardo Salveti (@ricardosalveti) ,
Boot up failure on rb3gen2 is same issue as qualcomm-linux/kernel#541, this is internally reporduced by APT team while executing weston test cases.
This is under active debug by Stability / Memory team, which will be updated on github issue shortly.

Other 2 failures are seen with 7.2 kernel, which are not relevant to this PR :

Shikra-iqs: Excessive logs flooding the serial console : https://lava.infra.foundries.io/scheduler/job/397776
This is already being reported to tech POC's and being tracked with issue : qualcomm-linux/kernel#928

kaanapali-mtp : This is a new issue seen on kaanapali and have created a issue to track this :
qualcomm-linux/kernel#1043

It has been opened in May, the last updates were also in May. No, both kernels are blocked until that issue is resolved and validated.

Also for 6.18:

Separate topic: https://github.com/qualcomm-linux/meta-qcom/actions/runs/33655620954/job/100342241453#step:3:5706. I see APR registration errors. What is the cause?

No we haven't seen this in Kernel APT testing.

A quick check through the LAVA CI logs for the last month (I limited search to this period) points out enough of the cases where monaco-evk resets during weston being started or stopped. Which means that APT testing is not enough to catch this kinds of issues. Please start paying attention to LAVA CI runs too.

For the current situation, the GPU transitions were breaking enough of the CI runs for the long enough time. There is also a huge difference between a test reporting a failure from time to time (or all the time) and the the test crashing the device. Kernel upgrades are going to be blocked until the devices in the lab can sustain the tests from the testsuite with the proposed kernel upgrade. Having a known board reset issue which is unresolved since May is totally unacceptable. It seems that to block the upgrades is the only way to get such issues resolved.

APT is trying to reproduce this issue on RB4 locally to capture crashdumps which are needed by technology teams to debug the issue, as of now issue is not reproduced.

For rb3gen2 issue Memory team have updated the issue with the findings : qualcomm-linux/kernel#541
Further debug is in progress with clocks and hardware teams.

Hamoa bootup failure would be resolved by latest bootbins, PR for which would land soon, updated in the issue : qualcomm-linux/kernel#1047

Issue for APR registration is created and tracked through : qualcomm-linux/kernel#1054

I did a quick sweep of the crashes, errors and warnings generated by the kernel. I guess APT team will flag more errors during the testing, but this number of issues pointed out by our simple LAVA CI is beyond comprehension (and way under the quality that we should be having on the LTS branch).

for RB3GEN2/RB4 crash the fix is still not in, but validations are under progress with probable fix.

Those must be fixed before the kernel can go in.

Yes this should fix RB4 issue as well, as per Stability and Memory team.
So we have tried 10 jobs on LAVA with gfx and weston cases and didn't saw this issue, even APT tried in their farm and not able to reproduce.

What about other kernel crashes I posted two days ago? Have you seen them beforehand? Do we have tickets to track them? Do we have tickets for other kernel defects outlined above?

Many of the issues were reported to tech owners before, but as most of them were warnings issues were not created.
For some of them we had internal CR and github issues.
Created github issues as well for other issues to track.
QLI2.0 issues can be tracked here at : https://github.com/qualcomm-linux/kernel/issues?q=state%3Aopen%20label%3A%22QLI%202.0%22

This is because APT is using a Ride Rev 2 board even though the build loads the Rev 3 DTB:

Machine model: Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. Lemans Ride Rev3

Rev 2 boards don't have the AQR115C PHY, which causes this failure. We have asked them to move the testing to Rev 3 boards, which are the ones where Ethernet is supported.

You're right, I mixed it up as APT had reported a similar issue some time back. However, I've seen this error before when Rev 1/2 devices were booted with a Rev 3 DTB. Having the DUT serial numbers would be helpful to determine whether these are Rev 1/2 or Rev 3 boards.

Salendarsingh Gaud (@sgaud-quic) , do we know whether the LAVA CI pool contains both Rev 1/2 and Rev 3 boards?

That's the print from dmesg (which is coming from the DTS).
Thanks for providing the serial number of the lemans-hyd-01 device. An Asset Search shows: LEMANSAU QAM8775P V2 AB

V2 boards don't have the AQR115C PHY, hence the probe failure.

V2 boards don't have the AQR115C PHY, hence the probe failure.

These boards have MCN 10-32722-0801, which means ADP RIDE 4.0 SX

Lemans Ride SX has a lot of variants, here's some that I know of and how they are described in the Asset Manager:

  1. ADP RIDE 4.0 SX (LEMANSAU QAM8775P V2 AB) - 10-32722-9261, and similar MCNs -> this is an older Auto board without the AQR115C PHYs. Its V3 variant has them instead.
  2. ADP RIDE 4.0 SX (QCS9100M) - 10-32722-0801, I believe -0811 as well -> this has the AQR113C PHYs.

The MCN I received for the hyd device is 10-32722-9261 which is LEMANSAU QAM8775P V2. So, there is a disconnect somewhere.

Cause of this failure is due to the timestamp missmatch before and after running the pw-record command.

Here audio_exec_with_timeout() builds its deadline from date +%s. When NTP advances the clock, the five-second recorder watchdog expires immediately, producing rc=124 and only 3.09 seconds of audio. AudioRecord also uses wall time for its displayed elapsed value, causing the misleading 4581451s result and the test to fail.
This is caused by the date to sync to correct time as below
