Thunderbird-Notepad

  • A Simple note-taking extension in Thunderbird. Saves notes as HTML or JSON files to any local folder.
  • Works on Linux, Windows and macOS.
  • Inspired by penge/my-notes

How It Works:

  • Files are saved under the browser's default download directory.
  • The user sets a subfolder name (e.g. "MyNotes") and files land at:
  • Linux: ~/Downloads/MyNotes/NoteName.html (or NoteName.json)
  • Windows: C:\Users\user\Downloads\MyNotes\NoteName.html (or NoteName.json)
  • The user can change their default download folder in Thunderbird preferences.
  • It also Auto-Saves the notes as "my-notes-autobackup.json" every 60 seconds interval to the same subfolder

Installation

  1. Simply download Rashid-Thunderbird-Notepad.xpi
  2. Add it as an Extension to your Thunderbird Installation

Why Another Thunderbird Notepad

Because I simply could not find a decent note taking option inside Thunderbird
