We carry exactly one patch on the lwext4 fork (rayhanadev/lwext4, branch ext4kit-patches, commit 837ef73): it adds EXT4_FINCOM_BG_USE_META_CSUM to lwext4's supported-incompat set so e2fsprogs 1.47 metadata_csum images mount. The submodule points at the fork solely because of it.
Worth proposing upstream to gkostka/lwext4 so we can eventually track upstream directly and drop the fork. Right now if that fork ever goes away, fresh --recurse-submodules clones break — the README has a note on reproducing the one-liner, but upstreaming is the real fix and good citizenship besides.
