GitHub retires the macos-14 image on 2 November 2026. The required PR smoke job and the Darwin release zip stay on a concrete arm64 label, the same way Windows stays on windows-2022.

Summary
GitHub retires the
macos-14Actions image on 2 November 2026 (brownouts through 31 October). The required PRmacosjob and the Darwin release job now pinmacos-26.macos-latestis a moving alias (it became macOS 26 in June 2026). A concrete label matcheswindows-2022and the pinned rustc. The rust-cache key isci-macos-26so the smoke job does not restore objects cached on Sonoma. The release job still has no build cache.The runner is the compile and smoke machine. This repo does not set
MACOSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET, so the zip's minimum macOS stays rustc'saarch64-apple-darwinfloor.Test
Docs and workflow YAML only. No local cargo. The required
macosjob (./scripts/ci-os-smoke.sh) is the check. The release zip'sotoolandcodesign -vsteps run on the nextv*.*.*tag.
