Refs #377. Robin asked for this on 2026-10-19: "turn off the #377 trace and make job feed detail-read failures persist where they survive a deploy".

Why

  • The collector's connection row keeps only the last run's counts.
  • A failed detail read was counted, but its reason was thrown away.
  • The MCP trace was the only place reasons appeared. It ran from Oct 16 to Oct 19 and caught no failing window, because every deploy ends the worker's logs.
  • The trace variable is now removed in Coolify, and the worker redeployed at 18:28Z without it.

What

  • A reason for every failed read. read_details now gives each downgraded posting a fixed reason:
    • an upstream code: unavailable, rate_limited, protocol or unauthorized;
    • tool_error:<CODE>, using the tool's own upper-snake code, which the MCP client already restricts to that shape. UpstreamFailure now carries it.
    • no_description, when the read answered but carried no description;
    • not read: no_feed_id, not_read_deadline or not_read_cap.
  • leads.jobfeed_run (migration 0016_jobfeed_runs, one empty table plus an index, non-destructive). One row per run, written on the run's own transaction from both run endings. It holds the outcome (completed, partial or stopped), the nine counts or the stop code, and the reason counts as JSONB.
    • Content-free: no posting, token or upstream message.
    • Rows older than 90 days are deleted as runs are recorded.
    • Not exported, the same as the model call log.
  • Leads › Scoring › Job feed is a new tab showing the last 12 runs: when each finished, how many jobs it added, updated and read in full, or why it stopped, with failed-read reasons as chips in words. For example: "2 answered without a description", "1 refused by the job service (JOB_NOT_VISIBLE)".

Merge needs

A module migration. Merging takes Leads down until rheo module upgrade --workspace <uuid> --module leads --target-version 0.1.0 --target-schema 0016_jobfeed_runs runs, after a backup.

Checks

  • Postgres: job feed runs (115 tests, with history assertions for a 503, a missing description, a stopped run, and tool errors with and without a usable code), migration chain and export (the run history stays out of exports), module upgrade, Leads pipeline rewind, and the scoring view. 215 passed in total.
  • Static: ruff, format and mypy repo-wide.
  • Web: 243 Leads web tests (2 new for the Job feed tab), typecheck and lint, plus the theme-token, module-boundary, legacy-name, repository and migration-output checks.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added a Job feed tab showing up to 12 recent collection runs, with run times, job counts, outcomes, stop reasons, and explanations for detail-read failures.
    • Run history is retained for 90 days and includes an informational note about the history.
  • Documentation

    • Updated the Job Scoring guide with details about the run history, its retention, and what information is included.

The collector's connection row holds only the last run's counts, and a
failed detail read was counted but its reason thrown away; the MCP trace
was the only place it showed, and every deploy ended the worker's logs
before a failing window was caught (#377).

- Each failed detail read now carries a fixed reason: an upstream code
(unavailable, rate_limited, protocol, unauthorized), tool_error with the
tool's own upper-snake code when it gave one, no_description when the
read answered without one, or not read (no feed id, the run's deadline,
  the read cap).
- Every run writes one content-free row to leads.jobfeed_run (migration
0016): outcome (completed, partial, stopped), the nine counts or the
stop code, and the reason counts. Rows older than 90 days are deleted as
runs are recorded; the history is not exported.
- Leads > Scoring gains a Job feed tab: the last 12 runs, what each added,
updated and read, and why reads failed, in words.

The trace variable itself is removed from Coolify and redeployed.

📝 Walkthrough

The job-feed pipeline now records run outcomes, counts, stop codes, and detail-read failure reasons. The Scoring view exposes the latest 12 runs in a new Job feed tab. Run history is retained for 90 days and excluded from exports.

Use a stable key for run rows.

The key includes index. Runs are newest first, and the tab reloads on a timer. A new run shifts every index, so React re-associates each row with a different run. The rows hold no state, so the effect is small. Still, finished_at plus index is not stable. The view does not return a run id. Add id to _feed_runs in view.py and use it as the key.

Expose each run’s `id` in the `_feed_runs` data from `view.py`, then use that ID
as the key for run rows in the scoring view instead of combining `finished_at`
with the array index.

From the cold review of #428:

- Every reason path has a unit test (read cap, deadline, no feed id, a
tool error with its code, unavailable, no description), and the reasons
always sum to the failures, the duplicate id included.
- The scoring view's feed_runs is tested end to end: newest first, at most
twelve, the stored shape, and the 90-day deletion as a run is recorded.
- The migrated jobfeed_run is compared column by column and check by
  check with its declaration.
- The "no JSON" rule now names its one exception, the reason tally, and a
test pins that read_failures is the table's only JSON column.
- Wording: runs say how many reads they tried (failed reads count too);
the two login-renewal stops have labels; the README's reason list drops
unauthorized (a refused login stops the run) and adds
endpoint_misconfigured, and says which runs leave no row; the export
  docstring names the run history.

From CodeRabbit on #428: the view now returns each run's id, and the
Job feed tab keys its rows by it, so a new run no longer shifts every row.
