Short job IDs: show, link and accept the UUID tail (#345) - #430
Conversation
A reference field now also takes <module>.<type>:<tail> or a bare tail, resolved by unique tail match through a per-type lookup a manifest record type declares. Dispatch, the tool facade and in-transaction calls pass the lookup through pydantic's validation context; the core resolver expands the typed form too. Leads gives opportunities short IDs and returns short_id on queue, list and scoring rows. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Detail links on the queue, review queue, list and scoring pages carry the short ID. Queue cards and the job detail header get a Copy job ID icon button that copies it; the ID chip behind the info tip goes. Tests cover the timestamp-prefix trap, lengthening on a shared tail, ambiguous-tail refusal, full references, the tool facade and the resolver. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Review comments at @modules/leads/src/rheo_leads/short_ids.py:
- Around line 21-23: The transformed opportunity.id lookup in opportunity_tails
is not index-backed and can scan the full table per request. Add a migration and
corresponding lookup structure supporting the tail lengths used by display
expansion and reference resolution, then update the lookup around with_short_ids
to use that indexed structure while preserving the existing adaptive collision
handling.
Review comments at @modules/leads/web/src/screens.tsx:
- Line 426: Update the opportunity list-row and board-card rendering around
detailRef(record) to display the server-provided record.short_id beside each
opportunity title, while preserving the existing links and title layout.
Review comments at @packages/core/src/rheo_core/refs/short.py:
- Around line 157-162: Contain temporary short-ID expansion failures by moving
the entire open_unit_of_work context and _expand call inside the existing try
block. In the temporary path only, re-raise ValueError unchanged and translate
StorageRefusal and SQLAlchemyError from context entry, expansion, or tail lookup
into ValueError(UNAVAILABLE); leave the active _uow path unchanged so
call_in_transaction still propagates failures.
Review comments at @tests/postgres/test_short_ids_leads.py:
- Line 56: Remove the flaky timestamp-prefix assertion involving a.hex[:8] and
b.hex[:8] from the test, leaving the existing short-ID inequality and
tail-suffix assertion unchanged. Replace its explanatory comment with a concise
reference that the timestamp-prefix behavior is covered deterministically by the
existing short-ID test.

- runtime.run expands typed short refs when named, so the job and its provenance row hold the full reference. - A storage failure during short-ID lookup answers input_invalid instead of raising out of validation; a type without short IDs opens no connection. - tail_lookup gets its own validator message; the identifiers doc now says which fields take short IDs and that a short link can turn ambiguous. Only the short read that validation opens for itself turns a storage failure into input_invalid; inside a caller's transaction it propagates, as the in-transaction contract does for everything else (CodeRabbit, #430). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Closes #345
Job links and IDs now use the UUID's random tail instead of the whole UUIDv7:
/leads/detail?ref=ef1c1302rather than?ref=leads.opportunity:01a126c1-02cc-7d5b-a113-4d0fef1c1302.What changes
leads_get) takes the bare tail, leads.opportunity:<tail>, or the full reference. A tail two records share is refused (input_invalid, "give more characters"), never guessed. The core resolver expandstype:<tail>too (reference_ambiguous/not_found). Handlers, audit rows and outputs still see only the full reference.RecordType.tail_lookupin its manifest.dispatch, the tool facade and in-transaction calls pass aShortRefExpanderthrough pydantic's validation context, and the reference validator uses it for anything that is not a full reference. Without that context (a model validated anywhere else) only full references parse, as before. Delete takes the typed form only, since two types are deletable there.ui.queue,opportunity.listandui.scoringrows carryshort_id. Queue, review queue, list and scoring links use it.Not in this PR
leads.opportunity, a few hundred rows today. An expression index would be a Leads migration (and an outage untilrheo module upgrade), so it waits until lookup is actually slow.tail_lookupon the type).Tests
