Diocese finance is a nightmare and somebody had to build the software — turns out it was me at 2am on a Tuesday.
ChaliceLedgr is the only accounting platform built from the ground up for the genuine complexity of ecclesiastical finance: donor-restricted endowments, clergy housing allowances, IRS Form 990-T unrelated business income, and inter-parish assessment allocations. It speaks the language of canon law and treasury administration because I learned that language so you wouldn't have to. Gerald's spreadsheet is no longer acceptable.

ChaliceLedgr is a microservices architecture running on a hardened Node.js core with a React frontend that never apologizes for being fast. Financial transaction data lives in MongoDB because the document model maps cleanly to fund accounting's nested structure and I will die on this hill. Session state and canonical entity graphs are persisted in Redis because warm reads on a 10,000-node parish hierarchy are non-negotiable. The assessment allocation engine runs as an isolated service and can be scaled horizontally without touching the ledger core — a decision I made at 4am and have never once regretted.
