Hi there! 👋 I'm Ricardo de Castro

🚀 Master's Student in Electrical Engineering | FPGA & Embedded Systems Researcher | Hardware Designer

I am currently a Master's Student in Electrical Engineering in a Double Degree program between IPB (Portugal) and UTFPR (Brazil).

My research focuses on Biomedical Instrumentation, Analog Front-Ends, and Hardware-Level Signal Processing. I specialize in bridging the gap between analog sensors and digital processing, with a strong background in FPGA design (Verilog), PCB layout, and Low-Power IoT architectures.

Currently, I am working on my thesis: "High-Resolution 12-Lead ECG Acquisition Device", designing a custom hardware architecture for portable, clinical-grade biopotential monitoring.

💻 Technical Toolkit

Signal Processing & Connectivity:

MATLAB Node.js MQTT PCB Design

🔬 Current Research & Focus

  • Master's Thesis: Developing a portable, high-resolution 12-lead ECG system using the ADS129x Analog Front-End, focusing on signal integrity and wireless transmission[cite: 1].
  • FPGA & Digital Logic: Exploring hardware accelerators for signal pre-processing (Edge Computing) to reduce power consumption in wearable devices.
  • Low-Power IoT: Optimizing firmware for energy-constrained environments using LoRaWAN and deep-sleep algorithms.
