把一个
.txt丢进去,就能逐句听、点句翻译—— 给想练英语听力跟读、又不想被生词表和背单词 App 绑架的人用。 单个 HTML 文件,双击即用,不用安装、不用注册。
- 在线直接用:https://roysee1972.github.io/english-text-reader/
- 下载:
index.html(约 19 KB),保存后用浏览器打开即可

English Reader — a single-file HTML tool that turns any English .txt into a
listen-and-repeat exercise: it splits the text into sentences, reads any sentence aloud on click,
and shows a Chinese translation on demand.
Built by a Chinese learner who started English in his thirties and found conventional methods useless — what worked was the "reverse" approach (listen first, read later). This tool automates the tedious part of that loop: pause, replay, dictate.
Features: TXT import with automatic sentence splitting; click-to-read with highlight; British / American voice switch (prefers female voices); speed 0.5×–2.0×; per-sentence translation (MyMemory API, requires internet); light/dark theme; preferences saved locally.
Open index.html in Chrome or Edge (they ship the best built-in English voices).
Audio comes from the browser's built-in speech synthesis — that is why the whole tool is only 19 KB.
