Include drawn notes in highlighted annotations

We can find these annotations just fine. And the drawings are just SVG files, so we can convert them to PDFs. But there's no obvious way to include these in the PDF file. The best idea I've had so far is to add the drawings as pages at the end of the PDF, and make the highlighted passage link to them.

With a long text – say an article – your thought of adding drawn notes at the and of the file and linking to them sounds like a good option. But with more graphical stuff – say a presentation – one might want to have notes closer at hand.

Maybe instead of always attaching it at the and of the document it could be made optional to attach it at other positions. It could make a lot of sense to have these notes added on an inserted page directly after the annotated page.

Since PDF-pages can also be resized a third option might also be to resize an annotated page to fit the notes on the page (might look ugly but could be handy).

These are just thoughts. Since I never used an ereader to annotate documents, I don't know if this is even practical. Maybe one never reads presentations on an ereader because it doesn't display them well enough.

Thanks for the suggestions. I suspect for more graphical stuff, the notes will be made directly on the PDF, instead of being attached to highlighted text, and that's already handled well. Expanding the page to include the drawings in margins, for example, is an interesting idea. But it would take some work to get the layout looking good in all cases. We'd probably also want some fancy boxes and arrows, which would be difficult without adding a graphics library (like reportlab or cairo).

I don't use these sorts of notes, though, so I'm not in a hurry to implement anything. Code talks, so anyone with a patch has a good chance of establishing the behavior here.
