Really crude and hastily put together RSS to Buttondown importer.

This will let you select from the posts in your feed and import it into Buttondown as a draft email using a template to

  • Copy .env.example -> .env and configure.
  • templates/rss_import.md for formatting the .md used in the Buttondown (uses Mustache).
    • Available variables: sitename, url, title, author, content.
  • You might need to modify the code in rss2button.md to fit your target RSS/Atom feed. I've only tested it on ours.
  • bundle install
  • ruby rss2button.rb

Example

Select post (Press ↑/↓ arrow to move and Enter to select)
  intersections – Happy Bandcamp Friday (maddie)
  Perseids 🌠 (maddie)
  Chip’s Challenge and an early childhood journey through cryptography (maddie)
‣ Beat saber, VRChat (maddie)
  Happy 15 years to Super Mario Galaxy ✨ (maddie)

Known Issues

  • For some reason, the Buttondown API eats the newlines, so you'll have to add them back yourself in the Buttondown email editor. Not sure how to fix this yet ><;.
