What changed

  • Reframed the README around HexWire as a turn-based cyberpunk strategy tactics game rather than leading with repository architecture.
  • Added a narrative opening centered on a privatized surveillance city, contract work, small-team infiltration, tactical competence, and extraction under pressure.
  • Expanded the four-runner crew into clear battlefield identities: street samurai, mage, decker, and face.
  • Explained the Street / Signal / Trace / Lay Low loop in player-facing language while preserving the actual implemented mechanics.
  • Added a narrative run structure covering contracts, room-by-room combat, objectives, extraction, nuyen, faction attention, cyberware, and persistent consequences.
  • Grounded the campaign section in the repo’s six certified story missions, interstitial operations, seeded replay model, twenty arenas, side contracts, endless gauntlet, and New Game+.
  • Retained badges, the pressure-loop art, architecture diagram, build instructions, CI evidence, documentation links, and repository atlas below the narrative layer.

Narrative direction

The README now presents HexWire as a game about a capable but vulnerable crew operating inside a city-scale surveillance machine. Power is available through the Signal layer, but using it raises Trace and forces the player to trade tempo against survival. Combat is framed as objective-driven infiltration rather than simple enemy elimination: the job is not finished until a runner reaches extraction.

Source grounding

Claims were checked against:

  • docs/TraceSystem.md
  • docs/audit/MissionCertificationMatrix.md
  • plans.md
  • project.yml
  • .github/workflows/hexwire-ci.yml
  • the existing repository README and stabilization documentation

No unsupported lore, named corporations, mission plots, or unimplemented systems were presented as canonical.

Validation

Documentation-only change. Hosted CI remains the authoritative validation surface for project drift, tests, iPhone/iPad builds, hygiene, resources, and archive generation.

P2 Badge Run the app in the autostart example

When this block is pasted into a shell, it only assigns a shell variable; it neither launches HexWire nor passes the value into a simulator process. Because HexwireApp.swift reads the app process environment, the documented “Launch directly” flow does nothing. Use the simulator-launch form, such as SIMCTL_CHILD_SR_AUTOSTART_MISSION_ID=Mission003 xcrun simctl launch <udid> com.hexwireaaron.game, instead.

…s CI

XcodeGen derives object IDs from the checkout directory name. The committed
project on this branch was generated under the old ShadowrunGame path, so
CI (checkout Hexwire/Hexwire) rewrote every ID. Main already regenerated
the project under that path in 6682975. Merge that project in; the README
rewrite is unchanged.
