This PR fixes the confirmed regressions in
sliceandhandleize, and adds focused regression coverage for the minimized cases.It also guards empty positional argument lists so
format_stringcan handle literal format strings without crashing when no arguments are provided.This PR intentionally excludes the deterministic fuzz harness and inventory work from the review scope.
