First Tech Preview

These things need to be done (must have) or at least tackled (should have) for the first Tech Preview. Tasks that are currently in progress are written in italics. (this is just for quick planning, will use proper issues later and link them here).

Must Have

essential before release

Relations

• Add New Related Entity via UI (TrackerTemplates integration)
• relation view for relations and self references
  • add and delete relations via drag&drop from relation view
  • implement drag&drop for relation shortcuts

Ontologies

• implement a consistent default set of file types for entities and relations with their properties

Meta

• Context and Classification (first stage, simple linking and UI)

Release

• getting started guide
• extend this Wiki for a quick intro (extend on a constant basis)
• prepare a VM image with a recent stable Haiku nightly (we need quite some fixes from after beta5 was released)

Logging and Testing

• fix show stoppers/crashes
• add proper logging and remove file names so logs can be sent in for inspection
• test on a fresh VM

Should Have

• intro video
• release notes and blog

Later (in an upcoming TechPreview)

in roughly priority order:

• proper packaging of SEN (HPKG), its modules/plugins and the default ontologies (file type set)
• UI support for "add to index" in FileTypes
• research ontology and plugins (paper metadata extraction via DOI and other primary metadata, lookup paper metadata and enrichment, search for full paper using UnpublishDb)
• Recipe use case
• inference - core done, needs integration
• remote relations with sync daemon (inotify watch + notfy.sh API)
