FocusKeeper cover

FocusKeeper

English · Русский

Keep the right macOS Focus mode enabled while your work apps are running.

Download latest release macOS 13+ Local only

FocusKeeper is a native macOS menu-bar app that turns on a selected Focus mode while chosen apps are running. It is useful when you want your Mac to enter a work context automatically when you open apps like Codex, Claude, Cursor, or Microsoft Word.

What It Does

  • Turns on the selected macOS Focus mode when a watched app starts.
  • Turns Focus off or restores the previous mode after watched apps quit.
  • Supports profiles, so different app groups can use different Focus modes.
  • Lets you pause automation for a short time or indefinitely.
  • Shows diagnostics when macOS permissions or Focus state need attention.
  • Supports English and Russian.

Install

  1. Download the latest .dmg from GitHub Releases.
  2. Open it and drag FocusKeeper.app to Applications.
  3. Launch FocusKeeper.
  4. Grant Full Disk Access when the app asks for it.

FocusKeeper is tested on macOS 26.5. It is a macOS 13+ app, but Apple can change Focus internals in system updates.

Full Disk Access

FocusKeeper needs Full Disk Access to manage macOS Focus directly.

Enable it in:

System SettingsPrivacy & SecurityFull Disk AccessFocusKeeper

If access is missing, FocusKeeper shows an error instead of changing Focus state.

Language

Open SettingsLanguage and choose English, Russian, or System.

Important

FocusKeeper works locally and manages Focus through macOS data on your Mac. This direct backend can break after macOS updates, so the app may need an update when Apple changes Focus internals.

Privacy

FocusKeeper does not send data anywhere and does not use network APIs. It only reads local running app identifiers and local macOS Focus configuration.

Uninstall

Quit FocusKeeper and delete FocusKeeper.app from Applications.

If you want to remove saved profiles, backups, and logs, delete the FocusKeeper files from Application Support and Logs in your user Library.
