Summary

  • [[filesys]] host-directory boot mounts hang forever on a 68000/68010 guest under released Copperline 0.12.0/0.13.0 — a 16-bit-bus move.l split never rings the hostfs MMIO doorbell. Root-caused and fixed upstream in CopperlineHQ/Copperline#312, not yet released.
  • run.sh/bench.sh keep their configs on real 68000 (rather than working around it with a 68020 CPU model, which would invalidate bench.sh's 68000 KDF-throughput numbers) and gain a COPPERLINE= env var to point at a fixed local build in the meantime.
  • Documents the root cause and resolution in docs/copperline-bugreport/REPORT.md and tests/copperline/README.md.
  • Also fixes an unrelated pre-existing link error in bench.sh's docker build: hmac.c unconditionally defines the SHA-256/512 HMAC variants, so sha256.c/sha512.c need to be linked even though this benchmark only exercises SHA-1.

Test plan

  • run.sh verified passing (10/10 HOTP vectors + DRBG KAT) on real 68000 via COPPERLINE= pointed at a local build of CopperlineHQ/Copperline#312
  • bench.sh verified building and running end-to-end (13.7 iters/sec PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA1) via the same override, confirming the SHA-256/512 link fix

[[filesys]] host-directory boot mounts hang forever on a 68000/68010 guest
under released Copperline 0.12.0/0.13.0 (a 16-bit-bus move.l split never
rings the hostfs MMIO doorbell). Root-caused and fixed upstream in
CopperlineHQ/Copperline#312, not yet released, so run.sh/bench.sh keep
their configs on real 68000 and gain a COPPERLINE= env var to point at a
fixed local build instead of working around it by raising the CPU model
(which would invalidate bench.sh's 68000 KDF-throughput numbers).

Also fixes an unrelated pre-existing link error in bench.sh's docker
build: hmac.c unconditionally defines the SHA-256/512 HMAC variants, so
sha256.c/sha512.c need to be linked even though this benchmark only
exercises SHA-1.
