Do we still love `waf`?

After recently going a few rounds, meh -- it feels kind of bespoke (this is the only waf system I deal with), but at least it's not scons... :-). How would people feel about maybe using cmake instead, with the aim of being a bit more mainstream?

I have no objections, but I also don’t know much about cmake.

The other C++ build system I’ve dabbled with is meson, which I ended up liking more than waf. It may be worth considering, though I’m not sure you can call it mainstream either.
