snouz/factorio_free_graphics_for_modders

Repository files navigation

A centralized catalog for factorio modders, to easily browse graphics from other mods with open/permissive license

  • To contact me: snouz on Discord, or issue tab

  • If you wish that I remove your work from this repo, I'll gradly respect that wish, regardless of the license chosen in the mod portal.

  • Check the license rights before using anything (some have requirements), credit every modder when you use parts of their work. It's also considered respectful by a lot of people to ask for permission beforehand to be sure they're ok with the way you're using their work, even when their license is permissive.

  • If you want to suggest some mods or assets to add, if you want to add your own unpublished material, or if I got a credit wrong, don't hesitate to contact me

  • Note: I've removed animations, rotations, shadows, masks... so check the actual mods (linked below) to get the actual resources. This is meant as a preview or a tool for kitbashing (art of combining resources into something new)

  • Tip: for mods with restrictive licenses (not included here) you can actually ask creators directly to use part of their work. They might say yes! Or if those mods includes graphics packages (e.g. Space Exploration, Angel's...), you can add the submod as a dependency and reference unmodified images there (requires credit)

  • Tip: to best use this repo, copy it to your computer, and display all images in a folder by typing "png" in the search bar (Windows)

Licenses obligations summary

  • MIT = You can use it, modify it, but you have to include the MIT license with the copyright notice

  • CC = Creative Commons | BY = you need to credit the author | NC = Non-Commercial, you can't make money off it | SA = Share Alike, you can't distribute it and pretend it has another license | ND = No Derivative, you can't remix in any way

  • GNU GPLv3/LGPLv3/Apache/Mozilla v2 = You can use it, modify it, but what you use has to keep the same license (add a notice to the mod page), the copyright notice, a link to the source, and make the changes clear.

Example of a good credit line (it's polite to do that even when the license doesn't force it): The entity (entity name) contain parts of buildings from (link to mod) from author (name) and is under license (license name)

Restricted graphics but you can put as dependency
