The problem
When playing a long queue or a massive playlist on main window, it can be quite difficult to locate the currently playing song once you scroll away from it. You lose track of where the active song is relative to the rest of the list.
Additional context
This is similar to how code editors (like VS Code) show search results or errors on the scrollbar track. It would be a massive Quality of Life (QoL) improvement for navigating large queues.
Just to clarify my earlier point: I know the queue sidebar shows the context of what played before and what is coming next. However, the sidebar cannot replace the main window experience. When browsing a long playlist in the main window, this scrollbar visual indicator is still absolutely necessary to easily locate the current song.
What you want instead
I would like to propose a smart visual indicator on the scrollbar to help locate the active track:
like this
SCROLLBAR REFERENCE
WHEN THE SONG IN CURRENT PAGE
FOR SONORA
- Scrollbar Marker: When the scrollbar appears, there should be a small dot or mark on the scrollbar track representing the exact position of the currently playing song relative to the entire list height.
- Theming: This tiny dot could use the app's accent/theme color (perhaps slightly darker than the scrollbar itself so it's visible but not distracting).
- Viewport Highlight (Active State): As a nice UI touch, when the user scrolls and the currently playing song enters the visible viewport, the scrollbar thumb itself could transition to that theme color. This gives immediate visual feedback that "the active song is currently on your screen."
Alternatives you considered
A simple "Scroll to playing song" button could work, but a visual scrollbar marker feels much more seamless and modern without adding extra buttons to the UI.
