Verified completed on current origin/main: Settings → General → “Reuse a preview tab when browsing files” now provides the requested choice. Turn it off to give every opened file its own tab. With it on, a single click reuses an italic preview tab; editing, double-clicking, or pinning keeps that tab open.
editor-preview-tab-setting.ts makes the saved setting authoritative for preview requests and replacement, including preview tabs that already existed when the setting was turned off.
Ran ORCA_BACKGROUND_LAUNCH=1 pnpm test src/renderer/src/store/slices/editor-preview-tab-setting.test.ts: 7 tests passed. These cover keeping both files open when disabled, normal preview replacement when enabled, existing-profile defaults, existing previews after disabling, and diff tabs.
The requested way to stop file replacement is delivered, so closing as completed.
