[Bug]: Mobile chat pins old messages below the newest reply, groups new sends with them, and drops pasted screenshots #30716
Other: Orca Android app connected to a macOS desktop host
Orca version
Desktop host 1.4.227 (macOS, Apple silicon). Android app version: not checked.
Details
Short summary. In the mobile chat view, my own messages stay pinned at the bottom, below the newest assistant reply, after they were sent and even after they were answered. Each new message I send then shows up grouped with that old block instead of in its own place. It happens every time I use the mobile app. Separately, screenshots I paste on the phone are uploaded to the desktop host but never attached to the message.
One example, checked against the session transcript (2026-10-19, local time UTC+8). At 7:24 PM a Claude Code tab showed three of my messages stacked under the agent's 7:20 PM reply:
Bubble at the bottom
What the Claude Code transcript (~/.claude/projects/<project>/<session>.jsonl) shows
Message A ("sounds good")
A normal type:"user" record at 5:36 PM. It was answered.
Message B ("do you use libraries for this")
Not in the transcript at all, so it never reached the agent. It still looked sent.
Message C
Sent at 7:02 PM while the agent was busy: queue-operationenqueue at 11:02:15Z and remove at 11:02:32Z, then a queued_command attachment stamped 11:02:15Z. It was answered at 7:03 PM.
So the bottom block mixed a message answered about two hours earlier, one answered 20 minutes earlier and one that was never delivered, and showed all three as the latest messages. When I send something new, the transcript records it as its own message, but the chat shows it grouped with the stuck block.
Pasted screenshot never attached. I pasted the same screenshot from the phone three times (7:25, 7:27 and 7:30 PM). Each paste created a file on the Mac at $TMPDIR/orca-paste-<timestamp>-<uuid>.png, but every message that reached the agent around then was plain text, with no image and no file path.
How to reproduce (it happens in every session for me):
Open a Claude Code tab in the Orca Android app.
Send a few messages, including one while the agent is busy, so that it gets queued.
Wait for the replies, then send a new message.
The earlier bubbles stay below the latest reply, and the new message is drawn together with them.
Paste an image into the composer and send. The image lands in the host's temp folder, but the agent never receives it.
Expected. Each message stays where it was sent and is matched to its transcript record. A message that never reached the agent is marked as not delivered instead of looking sent. A pasted image reaches the agent.
Possibly related:#26418 (unconfirmed pending messages pinned below the latest reply), #11511 (a "sent" bubble remains when the send never reaches the agent), #14641 (mobile ghost "Queued" duplicates), #14308 (queued prompts sorted by enqueue time), #20686 (mobile image paste inserts nothing).
Android app version: v0.0.48 (16), connected to the macOS desktop app 1.4.227.
Chat: Claude (Claude Code), in the chat view.
How I attached it: from the gallery, with the image button in the composer. I didn't paste it.
Smaller image: I haven't tried a smaller one from the phone yet. The one that failed wasn't large: a 245 KB PNG at 1084×2412.
One more detail: the upload itself seems to work. Each of my three attempts from the phone created a file on the Mac ($TMPDIR/orca-paste-<timestamp>-<uuid>.png), and all three were byte-identical. But the messages Claude received after each upload, 30 seconds to 2 minutes later, had text only: no image block and no [Image #N] marker in the transcript. When I paste the same screenshot into the desktop app, it arrives with [Image #N] and the image attached. So on mobile the image seems to be dropped after the upload, somewhere between the composer and the message sent to the agent.
For reference, here is the chat from the original report (Oct 19, 7:24 PM, with project details cropped out). The three bubbles at the bottom are the stuck messages:
Thanks for the detailed follow-up, it made this much easier to test.
I tried to reproduce the image problem on current main (commit 9639426) on macOS with Claude Code 2.1.310, in a terminal Claude session opened in the chat view on an Android emulator:
Orca Android 0.0.58 against the current desktop: I attached a 1084×2412 PNG (about 250 KB, close to yours) from the gallery with the composer's image button and sent it with a short message. The file showed up in $TMPDIR as orca-paste-….png, and Claude's transcript had [Image #1], an image block and the source path. Claude described the image correctly.
Orca Android 0.0.48, your version, against the same desktop: same steps, same result ([Image #2] plus the image block).
I also sent Claude the exact bytes the phone writes for an image send, outside Orca. The image attached within about 0.4 s with both a small PNG and a 12-megapixel photo, well before the message is submitted.
So I couldn't reproduce it on current main, and I'm closing this for now. The message-ordering half of your report was fixed separately (#31204). If the image still goes missing on the latest desktop and phone builds, please reopen and include your Claude Code version (claude --version), whether your message had more than one line, and a screen recording if you can.

Thanks for the report. Two of the three symptoms are already tracked, with fixes in progress:
!prompts where they were sent #26582).For the screenshot that never attaches, we couldn't find a cause on current main. Could you tell us:
