Add IBM SPSS Statistics as propriety project with GNU PSPP as the open source alternative.
IBM SPSS Statistics website: https://www.ibm.com/products/spss-statistics
BNU PSPSS website: https://www.gnu.org/software/pspp/
Note: initial release date of SPSS is approximate as only the year of release can be found in any online documentation. The first public release of PSPP is documented on the PSPP mirror site: http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/pspp/.
Evidence that PSPP was directly inspired by SPSS can be found on the PSPP website, which reads "GNU PSPP is a program for statistical analysis of sampled data. It is a free as in freedom replacement for the proprietary program SPSS, and appears very similar to it with a few exceptions." There is also evidence on the PSPP FAQ page, which reads, "PSPP is a program for statistical analysis of sampled data. It is a free replacement for the proprietary program, SPSS. One goal of the PSPP project is compatibility with the SPSS language."
