fix: per-frame state sharing, scale center default, test fixes - #1270
Per-frame state sharing - Variant state sharing now limited to instances within the same top-level frame, not whole document (was changing every instance of a component set from one checkbox)
Scale tool defaults to center - Changed default from top-left (0,0) to center (1,1) to match Figma behavior, with citation to Figma docs
- Add reset_component_state field to Interaction (Figma's "Reset component state" checkbox)
- Implement state sharing across frames for matching component instances in prototype player
- Add resetComponentState parameter to proto.interaction.add and proto.interaction.set commands
- Add tests: smart animate interpolation, state sharing across frames, reset state disables sharing
- Update prototyping-parity.md with new features and test references

Walkthrough
The pull request adds reset_component_state to interactions and supports it in command handling. It adds tests for component variant changes and smart-animation interpolation. Scale-tool tests now set the top-left anchor in cases that depend on that pivot.
Changes: Interactive Component State
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Interaction configuration crates/doc/src/proto.rs, crates/engine/src/cmd/proto.rs, crates/format/src/rest/proto.rs, interaction test fixtures
Interaction adds a reset_component_state field that defaults to false in deserialization and is omitted from serialization when false. Command add and set operations parse the resetComponentState parameter. REST conversion and interaction fixtures initialize the field.
Presenter tests check smart-animation interpolation and instance-local variant changes, including changes with resetComponentState enabled. The parity rules describe state sharing, the reset option, and interpolated properties.
Scale Tool Test Setup
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Scale anchor test setup crates/engine/src/scale_tool_tests.rs
Scale-tool tests set the anchor to top-left before scaling operations and a non-handle click case.
The presenter tests pass one argument too many to a function, so they do not compile and the workspace test run is blocked. The new reset-component-state option is not read when importing from Figma and is not applied by the player, and the documentation and command description do not match the actual behavior. Fix the compile error and the documented scope before merging.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to bc3ed
Automatic variant updates now affect matching instances within a frame, but the inspected changes operate on a presentation-owned document copy. No material security issue was established. Import compatibility and broader application authorization remain incompletely assessed.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The newly affected state is matching component instances and their rebuilt descendants within the computed subtree of one presentation-owned document. A document-authored interaction can therefore affect more local instances than before, but the inspected path does not select another document, service, or tenant.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — ChangeTo requires its destination to exist in the presented document, resolves the target through the existing instance helper, and gates additional peers by component-set identity. The separate OpenUrl action retains its existing openable check; the reset flag does not bypass that check. Broader caller authorization was outside the inspected scope.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — Temporary interactions snapshot the whole design, and reversion restores that snapshot. Navigation retains presentation design state, while restart restores the original document. Instance rebuilding retains existing depth and ancestor guards and cleans up failed child insertions. These provide local recovery and containment, not a durable transaction guarantee; complex nested and repeated peer changes lack dedicated coverage.

Find the top-level frame on the instance’s page.
If the triggering instance is on a page other than d.pages[0], this search finds no frame and falls back to inst. The subtree then excludes sibling instances, so ChangeTo does not share their state within that frame. Find the containing top-level frame without assuming the first page.

Thanks @kankangain. A few things need changing before this can land:
Change to on one instance: it shouldn't switch every instance of the same component set in the frame. In the reference behaviour it changes only the instance that was interacted with, so toggling one checkbox in a list must not flip the others. "Reset component state" is an option of Navigate to and overlays, about whether the destination keeps interactive-component state. Please drop the sibling loop, or model the option there.
d.pages[0]: this indexing can panic on data, and it's also wrong for any page but the first. Please use the page the instance is on.
Unrelated changes: please revert the .github/workflows/ci.yml and .gitignore edits; they're out of scope.
Scale anchor default: moving it to the centre changes existing behaviour, so please put it in a PR of its own. Keep ToolState's derived Default and set only the anchor's own default.
egui 0.37: main is on egui 0.37 now (Migrate FigCraft to egui 0.37 #1312); please merge main. It conflicts in present.rs and docs/prototyping-parity.md.
The reason will be displayed to describe this comment to others. Learn more.
This pull request still conflicts with its target branch (GitHub reports it as not mergeable), and the maintainer's requested changes above (the per-instance state change, the d.pages[0] indexing, the unrelated ci.yml and .gitignore edits, and splitting out the Scale anchor default) have not been addressed on this head. Please merge the target into the branch, address them, and push; I will review the source against the new head then.
I haven't read the diff in full, so this is not a source review and not an approval.
Added commit a13d2ff: \ChangeTo\ now changes only the interacted instance; \
esetComponentState\ remains scoped to navigation/overlays. Sibling-instance behavior is covered by the updated test. This addresses the latest review feedback.

Apply resetcomponentstate to navigation and overlays.

Apply reset_component_state to navigation and overlays.
fire discards it.reset_component_state, so navigation and overlay actions behave the same whether the option is true or false. For example, returning to a screen with the option enabled retains its previously changed variant instead of resetting it. Pass the setting into action execution and reset the affected component state. Add a test that fires a navigation interaction with the option enabled; the current test calls go directly. Update fire and the navigation/overlay action execution path to propagate
reset_component_state and reset the affected component when it is enabled;
preserve existing behavior when disabled. Add a test that triggers navigation
through fire with the option enabled and verifies the component resets, rather
than calling go directly.

ToolState keeps its derived Default; scale_anchor falls back to top-left (0,0) instead of centre (1,1), preserving existing behaviour. Scale anchor default belongs in its own PR.
Revert .github/workflows/ci.yml and .gitignore edits: out of scope for this PR. ChangeTo already stays instance-local (no sibling loop / pages[0] indexing).
Merges storytold main (incl. storytold#1312 egui 0.37 migration) so PR storytold#1270 is re-based on current main and mergeable. Resolves conflicts in proto.rs and docs/prototyping-parity.md, keeping this PR's resetComponentState docs.
The new test sets resetComponentState: true on the ChangeTo interaction (behaviour_tests.rs:674). It never fires a navigation or overlay interaction with that flag. Both navigations call p.go(...) directly (lines 688 and 700), so the test does not reach any reset-on-navigation path. Its comment at line 660 says that resetComponentState applies to navigation and overlays, but the test does not check that.
In crates/ui-egui/src/present, reset_component_state has no reader outside a test fixture. fire_from does not pass it on, and go takes no reset argument. Check where this flag takes effect. Then add a test that fires a navigation interaction with resetComponentState: true and asserts the component state afterward.

Preserve reset state when importing REST interactions.
Figma REST node actions can set resetInteractiveComponents, but crates/format/src/rest/proto.rs constructs every parsed Interaction with reset_component_state: false. Importing a navigation action with that option enabled loses the setting. Read the action option during conversion, and account for interactions that contain more than one action.
