Remember the native window and add GNOME Wayland caption buttons - #1364
FigCraft should reopen at its previous normal size or maximized state across interface sizes. Control-channel sessions keep their requested viewport and leave the user's saved native geometry alone.
Enable native-window persistence for interactive sessions, keep widget preferences in the app's existing store, and discard legacy egui widget memory before app setup. The upstream graphics fallback, adapter initialization and first-frame tracking are retained. Both maintainer-requested review banners remain removed, with the existing progress records and contributor entries preserved.
The complete Craft egui family stays at 69750b7 from storytold/egui#3. On GNOME Wayland, native caption controls apply to the system frame selected with FIGCRAFT_TITLEBAR=system. The shared change must land before the dependency moves to an owner-approved durable commit; the settings-store location remains a separate owner decision.
Validation on Linux, 30 Oct, at 2f0cf95c: formatting and workspace Clippy passed. All workspace test targets executed across CI and continuation, with 4,509 test pass results, including the startup widget-memory regression. Doctests, translation reporting, layers, assets, WASM and all four example-plugin checks passed. Four existing colour-emoji assertions fail on this host with its COLRv1 font; their owning text/render crates match integrated upstream. This is not a fully passing workspace test run.
Native Windows and macOS acceptance remains unvalidated in this follow-up.
The final 30 Oct documentation follow-up describes the existing interface/startup policy for the coverage warning. Formatting passed; executable Rust statements are unchanged, so the recorded runtime validation remains applicable.
Pin the egui family to storytold/egui#3 (ba04bd7): saved geometry keeps its interface zoom, the last normal rectangle survives maximizing, X11 startup maximize is repeated after mapping, and GNOME Wayland gets Adwaita caption buttons. Enable eframe persistence for the native window, keeping egui widget memory out of it. Attribution links, progress docs and the contributor entry are updated.

Summary
Update the egui fork revision Cargo.toml, ATTRIBUTION.md
The egui-family patches and font attribution link now refer to revision 69750b71.
The app enables eframe persistence and disables egui memory persistence. Startup clears legacy widget memory. Native window persistence is enabled only when no control port is configured. A test checks that the helper removes persisted widget data.
Record window behavior ROADMAP.md, docs/ui-parity.md
The records describe restoring window size and maximized state across restarts, except in --control runs. They also describe GNOME Wayland system-frame caption buttons when FIGCRAFT_TITLEBAR=system.

Summary
Add contributor entry contributors/people.toml
The contributor registry adds abdallah-shehawey with GitHub-name synchronization enabled.
The reviewed window behavior and contributor record satisfy their documented contracts, leaving no merge-blocking risk.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to 0f715
The inspected changes are limited to desktop window restoration and public contributor credits. No introduced security weakness was established. Verification of the external contributor-consent checks remains incomplete.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The demonstrated exposure is desktop window appearance and compiled public contributor metadata. The inspected changes do not transfer control-channel or file-access authority into persisted window settings. Control-port runs cannot restore or update the native-window record.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The existing contributor boundary trusts people_entry=true in generated JSON before accepting people.toml names, with a second opt-in required for the public GitHub name. Documentation delegates authorship or maintainer-consent checks to an external refresh script. That script was unavailable, so its identity checks and behavior during refresh, interruption, or stale snapshots remain unverified; this is a pre-existing proof gap rather than an established regression.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
inferred — Window persistence is best effort rather than transactional: writes are serialized within a storage instance but overwrite app.ron directly, and unreadable state falls back to an empty store. Interruption or competing application instances can therefore lose saved geometry. The inspected application keeps preferences and document recovery separate, limiting this failure domain without demonstrating a security-control regression.

egui fork pin: it moves all 14 pins of our egui fork to a commit from Fix window restoration across UI zoom and enable GNOME Wayland controls egui#3, which isn't merged. That also brings in another fork commit touching IME, clipboard and web code. The fork has to land that first, and its pin moves in a PR of its own.
Where the window is saved: eframe's own app.ron is a second settings store, outside the app's config folder and outside the shared craft-settings crate the Craft apps use. Where it lives is the owner's call.
Also:
GNOME caption buttons: on GNOME Wayland, craft-window already gives FigCraft its own title bar with its buttons. The new caption buttons only show with FIGCRAFT_TITLEBAR=system, so please correct the GNOME claim in the PR text, ROADMAP and docs/ui-parity.md.
Control channel: please turn window restore off under --control, so control-channel screenshots stay reproducible.
…n-button claim
Repin the egui family to storytold/egui#3's new head (69750b7): eframe now
drops its storage, joining the pending write, after the last save and before
App::on_exit, so an app that ends the process there no longer loses the
window it just saved; and persist_window = false no longer restores a window
saved by an earlier run.
Control-channel runs (--control) set persist_window = false, so their
screenshots start from the same window every time.
GNOME Wayland keeps FigCraft's own title bar (craft-window); the new caption
buttons are on the system frame only (FIGCRAFT_TITLEBAR=system). ROADMAP and
docs/ui-parity.md now say so.

Reconcile the progress status lines with upstream cac54fd while keeping the window-restoration and control-run notes. Clear legacy egui widget state before FigCraft installs its services; eframe keeps its separate native window record.
Validation: the equivalent CI steps passed (fmt, Clippy, 3812 workspace tests, doctests, i18n report, assets, layers, WASM and plugin checks/builds). Four known Fedora COLRv1 emoji tests were filtered by the test command; no source tests were ignored or changed.

Thanks @bflatastic. Pushed daa06978, merging current main (cac54fd5) and resolving the progress-document conflicts while keeping both sides' history. The app now also discards stale egui widget memory before initialization. --control skips native window restore/save, and the PR/progress notes scope the new GNOME buttons to FIGCRAFT_TITLEBAR=system.
Validation: the equivalent CI steps passed: fmt, Clippy, 3,812 workspace tests, doctests, i18n report, assets, layers, WASM and the plugin formatting/lint/tests/release builds. The four known Fedora COLRv1 colour-emoji tests were filtered in the test command; no source tests were ignored or edited.
The shared fork/pin and eframe's second settings-store location (app.ron) remain owner decisions. This PR stays on hold for those decisions. After the shared fork lands, its durable pin should move through the separate dependency PR you requested.
Merge upstream 740d117, preserving both contributor opt-ins and the new colour-picker progress alongside the window-restoration notes.
Validation: all equivalent CI steps passed again, including 3823 workspace tests, doctests, i18n report, assets, layers, WASM and plugin checks/builds. The same four known Fedora COLRv1 emoji tests were filtered by the test command; no source test ignores were added.

Final follow-up: main advanced again while validation was running. Pushed 8033d124, which merges 740d1173 and resolves the new documentation/contributor conflicts, preserving both contributors' opt-ins. All equivalent CI steps passed again, now with 3,823 workspace tests; the same four known COLRv1 emoji cases were filtered only by the command. WASM and all plugin checks/builds passed. The widget-memory fix is retained, and the owner decisions above remain open.
Thank you for this. A status update: it stays open, and here's what would let it land. Thanks for the --control and GNOME fixes. It still pins storytold/egui#3, which isn't merged yet, so it waits for that. Please also drop the "Review follow-up" banners from ROADMAP.md and docs/ui-parity.md.
Remove the roadmap and UI-parity review banners requested by the maintainer, retaining the existing native-window/control policies and progress records. Resolve the current upstream integration while keeping both attribution records and the actual egui font-source revision.
Workspace fmt/Clippy, all remaining test binaries, doctests, translation reporting, layers, assets, WASM and all four example-plugin gates pass (4347 test pass results). The four existing COLRv1 emoji assertions remain; text/render sources are identical to the integrated upstream. The shared egui merge and settings-store location remain owner decisions.

Leave the upstream status heading intact and remove the redundant banner-removal log row while retaining the native-window progress and revision-history records. The latest main updates then merge without conflicts. This changes only Markdown; the runtime-tested source is unchanged.

Leave the upstream-owned status heading and history insertion point intact while keeping the native-window behavior in its existing progress records. The current target merges cleanly. Only documentation changes; application source and the recorded runtime validation are unchanged.

Retain control-session window isolation and discard legacy widget memory while preserving the upstream graphics fallback and first-frame tracking. Keep both contributor entries and progress records.
