TeamCity 2026.1 breaks editing parameters (and perhaps other things?)

When editing a parameter that existed before updating our TeamCity to 2026.1 we get this error:

jetbrains.buildServer.server.rest.errors.BadRequestException: Using '**' in fields specification is disabled by default due to performance concerns. To enable it, set the internal property 'rest.request.allNestedFieldsRecursively.enabled=true' on the server.

We will explore setting the property and report back if it works around the issue.

Setting rest.request.allNestedFieldsRecursively.enabled=true in the properties fixes the issue, however it seems like JetBrains is asking you as the plugin author not to use that query parameter any more.

It was a useful shortcut to just pass in ** to the rest api to indicate that I wanted the API to return all the fields and sub-fields.

However, if that's no-longer the suggested way, I will need to figure out all the fields I want, and ask for them by name.

I could change the REST API itself and specify the fields that are returned by default, but I was trying to keep the REST API fairly lightweight, and only return heavy objects when requested.

Thanks for reporting. I had obviously not discovered this on my TeamCity instances. I'll give it a test when I get to a computer.

After upgrading TeamCity to 2026.1.3, we are facing the same issue when editing webhooks.

So it turns out that fields=* and fields=** does the same thing on my implementation of the REST API.
I have an updated build that updates those three JS files, and some initial testing looks like it's working great.

I will do some more testing over the rest of the weekend, and will aim to release new a new version of the tcWebHooks 2.x and 3.x plugins in the next couple of days.

I have released 2.0.4-rc.1

Sorry for the delay. I was ready to release last week, and then found that the plugin would fail to load if the release was built on the teamcity.jetbrains.com instance.
Some builds appear to be fine, and others have this Spring Issue where it can't inject dependencies into the Spring context.

Works fine on my build server (LOLz).

I want to do a bit more testing and then will release a new 3.0.0 alpha too as soon as i can to fix this issue for those of us running 3.0.0.

@netwolfuk we have limited capacity to try out prerelease plugins but I'll put it on the board - we use the workaround I mentioned above and don't have any perf issues that I'm aware of, however it'd be good to no longer have that workaround in place, of course.
