Overnight e2e marathon — tracking

Historical record; policy superseded 2026-09-13. This closed issue records past work, not current execution instructions or production acceptance. The owner requires no CI checks: all code review and validation run locally. Do not recreate the hosted workflows, CI merge gates or hosted reviewer described below. Current work and evidence are tracked in #252, #277-#286, and #191 for native release. Existing closure and historical results do not certify today's workflows or screenshots.

Original historical issue

Autonomous 10h overnight run. Build a committed, CI-blocking Playwright e2e suite, ship workflow-completing features (each with its e2e flow), then backfill e2e for existing flows. Mobile excluded (#191 = JDK blocker). Live monitoring surface — ticked per merge.

Phase A — e2e foundation (FIRST; blocking lane gates the rest)

• A1. playwright dev dep + tests/e2e/conftest.py (live-server fixture, fresh sqlite, page)
• A2. blocking e2e CI lane (playwright install + pytest tests/e2e/)
• A3. smoke full-loop e2e (signup→invite→accept→event→solve→publish→accept→review)

Phase B — new workflow features (feature → committed e2e → PR)

• B1. Volunteer self-serve open shifts (/v/open + claim)
• B2. Swap-claim marketplace (another volunteer claims a requested swap)
• B3. First-run onboarding wizard (onboarding_progress)
• B4. Event roster fill view (needed vs filled, inline assign)
• B5. Calendar subscription verified e2e (ICS has published assignment)
• B6. Availability respected by solver (timeoff blocks assignment)
• B7. Bulk notify / digest trigger → inbox
• B8. Decline → auto-reopen slot

Phase C — e2e backfill for existing flows (~5 flows/PR)

• C1. auth (signup/login/forgot/invite-accept)
• C2. availability (timeoff/rrule/exceptions) + teams + constraints

✅ Phase A done — #198 merged. Committed Playwright e2e suite + live-server fixture + blocking e2e CI lane, self-validated green on GitHub Actions (1m5s). Smoke full-loop covered. Caught 2 real harness bugs (shared-context cookie clobber; root-conftest in-memory-DB forcing). → Starting Phase B — workflow features, each with its committed e2e flow (B1: volunteer self-serve open shifts).

✅ B1 done — #200 merged. Volunteer self-serve open shifts (/v/open + race-safe claim), 201 web tests + committed e2e flow, both CI lanes green (e2e 1m13s). → Starting B2 — swap-claim marketplace (another volunteer claims a requested swap).

B2 merged (#202). Swap-claim marketplace live (/v/swaps): a swap-requested assignment is now claimable by another eligible volunteer; transfers the slot. Committed e2e test_swap_marketplace.py green in the blocking lane after fixing a CI-only race (Claim click now waits for the HTMX swap before navigating). Also merged side-request #203-pending: static GitHub Pages site (separate PR). Next: B3 first-run onboarding wizard (PR open shortly).

B3 merged (#205). First-run onboarding wizard live (/a/onboarding): 4-step checklist (invite→event→solve→publish) derived from real org data, persisted to onboarding_progress, with a skip action + dashboard nudge. Committed e2e drives a fresh admin through to complete. Status: A done; B1–B3 merged; B4 (#207) + B5 (#208) PRs in flight; static GH Pages site live (https://tomqwu.github.io/SignUpFlow/). Next after B4/B5: B6 availability-respected-by-solver.

Overnight e2e marathon — COMPLETE (2026-05-19).

Full backlog merged to main (head: C5 #225). Final state verified: 29 committed e2e tests across 14 files, all green on integrated main, enforced by the blocking Playwright CI lane (the e2e gate is now durable, not a one-off screenshot).

• Phase A — tests/e2e/ harness (live-server + isolated browser contexts) + blocking CI lane + smoke full-loop.
• Phase B (B1–B8) — open shifts, swap marketplace, onboarding wizard, roster fill view, calendar-feed publish gating, solver-respects-time-off guard, bulk-notify, decline-reopen. Each: feature + web tests + committed e2e.
• Phase C (C1–C5) — e2e backfill: auth; availability/teams/constraints; notifications/manual-assign/unpublish; analytics/recurring/all-assignments/swap-review; CSV-import/settings/billing/pricing/dark-mode.
