Final head: 474c95c572e11078e9aa9751dad5c4101a486e58. Exact-head CI passes the complete npm run release:check on Node 22 and 26 and bun run release:check on Node 26 with isolated HOME/global/system Git identity. Every variant reports 628/628, zero failures/cancellations/skips, 100% statements/lines/branches/functions, all 35 sources and 295 documented declarations. CodeQL passes. The PM claim is released, the item remains in progress for the orchestrator, the worktree is clean, and release stays disabled.

The training recipe was fixed by the programme. This adds pm rl meta run: a versioned, content-addressed recipe names declared bounds for learning rate, inner steps, batch, selection policy, curriculum, temperature and reward weights. Each inner generation records its recipe digest. Seeded search proposes bounded candidates; optional local tev1:4b ranks a bounded pool through the existing System One calibration adapter and falls back to seeded proposals when unavailable. A persisted inference intent prevents another physical request after an unresolved crash.

The real tracker environment predicts terminal disposition from normalized lifecycle history prefixes with exact-match reward, using the packaged logistic process trainer. Dataset building verifies public visibility, MIT licensing and public commit availability, reads committed Git objects, and records repo/commit per example. Repository roles separate training, meta-validation and final test; identical prefixes stay together in the additional inner split. Hosted data, pm-web, pm-gpt and pm-cli are excluded. The committed fixture is synthetic; real examples are built at live acceptance time.

Search receives evaluator capabilities and scores. Dataset coordinates and example loading stay in the evaluator, while the proposer receives recipe-only inputs. Bookkeeping performs certified metadata-only reads and opens its own Decision records. One existing approval identity and spec digest govern all work: atomic outer reservations bound samples, proposal calls and recipe promotions, and inner fits retain the existing process reservations, measured receipts and settlement. Programme ids are canonical lowercase slugs before any write; retained ledger ids use SDK case folding so uppercase spellings cannot hide allocations. The outer controller reuses the inner lease, fencing and durable-step machinery. An approved successor becomes the next meta-generation incumbent; proxy-only gains cannot authorize it. Final-test scoring happens after all selection receipts.

npm run test:live completed two meta-generations with K=2 over 25 public MIT repositories: 15 training, five meta-validation and five final-test repos. One verified source had no eligible prefixed terminal transitions and is recorded as omitted. The dataset contains 1,023 train, 145 inner held-out, 214 meta-validation and 385 final-test examples, 1,767 total. Dataset digest: a4320672ba0d2f20e1aebfba7b9e91de71c95e17a9706700f79dfe163c8aae0c.

Incumbent recipe: sha256:b77fdfeff48dc713d46b397ff6ea652257fe46ca09650264ba5563e4e53a34ae (learning rate 0.25, two steps, batch 128, temperature 1, correct/incorrect weights 1/0, all examples, forward order).

Meta generation Candidate recipe prefix Meta-validation exact match Gain Lower gain bound Promotion
1 800886e9f4cd 107/214 = 0.5 0 -0.21778781183411927 refused
1 45113586500f 107/214 = 0.5 0 -0.21778781183411927 refused
2 4a48567235f1 107/214 = 0.5 0 -0.21778781183411927 refused
2 55539a90ca05 107/214 = 0.5 0 -0.21778781183411927 refused

No recipe was promoted. Inner promotion retained the seed policies, so each recipe's resulting policy matched the accepted incumbent. Final-test score before and after: 198/385 = 0.5142857142857142. Confidence 0.95 is allocated across four comparisons as 0.9875 each; effect threshold 0.01, minimum samples 10 and reward bounds [0,1] are unchanged. No real-data recipe improvement is claimed. The corrected-source live run reproduced the complete manifest and all original report fields exactly; diagnostics are the only added evidence. There was no statistical or feature tuning of the real-data programme after final-test exposure. Complete public source commits, recipe knobs and verdicts accompany the measured contract.

The orchestrator review is addressed with evaluator-produced aggregate diagnostics. The majority class is completed: 211/214 = 0.985981308411215 on meta-validation and 384/385 = 0.9974025974025974 on final-test. The current learner does not beat the majority baseline on real trackers. Each of the four candidates predicts two labels (108 completed, 106 cancelled). Every one of the six candidate pairs disagrees on 0/214 = 0%, as does every candidate versus the incumbent. Final predictions are 199 completed and 186 cancelled before and after. The matching scores come from retaining the same accepted zero-weight seed after every inner fit was refused; this is not a one-class prediction collapse. Counts and disagreement are computed inside the evaluator without exposing held-out examples or prediction vectors.

The committed known-signal environment proves positive promotion with the exact live programme: two meta-generations, K=2, 40,000 inner evaluation samples, confidence 0.95 allocated as 0.9875 per comparison, minimum 10 samples and effect threshold 0.01. Seed 198 and the deliberately weak initial recipe are fixed in the fixture; training, inner validation, meta-validation and final-test prefixes are distinct. Recipe 30eccf433a17 wins generation 1: 5629/10000 versus 4943/10000, gain 0.0686, lower gain bound 0.036740389785077876. Generation 2 retains it. Final-test improves 5093/10000 to 5806/10000, above its 5000/10000 majority baseline. This is synthetic sanity evidence, not real-tracker improvement. The gate and all real-data knobs are unchanged. Complete sanity receipt.

The bounded real-data acceptance rerun took 58,251.420959 ms and reproduced the dataset digest, recipes, scores, checkpoints and refusal verdicts exactly. pm-rl-prefix is the follow-up feature for a bounded learner that reads the normalized history prefix, such as the existing LM adapter. RECURSIVE_TRAINING.md records the baseline limitation plainly.

The review findings are fixed by the final implementation:

  • Excluded repository names are compared case-insensitively before metadata or history reads. A canary-backed Git regression checks mixed-case SSH and HTTPS remotes.
  • Every promotion counts consumed generations plus unconsumed meta headroom inside the same writer transaction. Reservation creation shares that accounting; only canonical owning inner generations can consume their reservation. A concurrent real tracker regression reserves four slots under an approval permitting five, admits one ordinary promotion, refuses the other, and resumes the meta owner without another allocation.
  • The npm tarball includes both linked live and sanity evidence receipts; a regression checks the actual dry-run pack manifest.
  • Disagreement peers are unique by recipe digest and checkpoint, with the incumbent included once. The regenerated synthetic receipt removes the duplicated incumbent entries; all learning scores, confidence bounds, promotions and final-test outcomes are unchanged. Existing completed score receipts remain immutable.
  • Inner accounting, malformed-specification, lock-timeout and unknown promotion refusals cannot become recipe evidence. Repeated refusal replay does not launch or charge another process; the explicit candidate-contamination refusal retains the previous accepted policy.

Outer lease recovery forwards the explicit force-takeover flag, records digest-only audit evidence on the actual approval, and reports the complete meta recovery command. Live and unverifiable holders remain protected. Canonical receipt lookup refuses wrong types, drift and unreadable own evidence; bounded programme ids prevent inner lease collisions. Every unfinished phase verifies its exact retained allocation before executing, including after a completed programme receipt.

Four new independent behavior-only revert proofs fail with regressions retained: remove repository case folding, remove promotion-time retained-capacity accounting, remove the package files entry, or restore the previous refusal classifier. Restoring the fixes passes the linked command 4/4. The complete linked meta suite passes 28/28. PM retains 25 independent behavioral revert proofs across the feature and review fixes. All tests use real temporary trackers; the GitHub metadata fixture is synthetic. No real-data live rerun or post-test feature/statistical tuning was performed in this round.

Complete source verification at 29193adc638a40b04c945e657eaaadfa034a2371 runs npm run release:check on Node 22 and 26 and bun run release:check on Node 26 with isolated HOME and global/system Git configuration. Every variant passes 628/628, zero failures/cancellations/skips, 100/100/100/100 statements/lines/branches/functions across all 35 declared sources, 295 documented declarations, zero duplicate clones and zero production audit findings. The real tarball manifest includes the sanity receipt. CodeQL passes.

Previous handoff head: ef8210b1a1d534653c6d2d5194de699a584381c7. Exact-head CI passes all three complete release variants: npm Node 22, npm Node 26 and Bun Node 26 each 628/628, zero failures/cancellations/skips, 100/100/100/100, all 35 declared sources and 295 documented declarations. CodeQL passes. This includes the strengthened alias-persistence assertion. The worktree is clean and the PM implementation claim is released; all implementation/audit items remain in progress for the orchestrator and the learner follow-up remains open.

Issue #85 verifies approval identity across full, uppercase and short SDK references. Reservation matching, historical promotion counting, new promotion persistence and loop replay use the same canonical Decision. The pinned-SDK alias command passes 2/2, including ordinary/manual refusal with four slots held, concurrent mixed aliases sharing one free slot, canonical new records, legacy aliases, owner/terminal replay without extra charges and unreadable/wrong-type reference refusal. Reverting only the changed identity-handling functions fails 0/2; restoring only raw approval persistence separately fails 0/1. Every contender uses an alias, so a canonical caller cannot accidentally satisfy persistence. Restoration passes 2/2. The direct isolated lineage suite passes 51/51. A combined PM-run attempt passed its 28 meta cases but failed 39 legacy lineage setup cases because of known sandbox PM_PATH injection; that failed receipt is retained, and the unsuitable combined link was removed.

Fixes #85

Fresh no-local clone strict tracker health passes with installed merge drivers and isolated Git identity. Three existing telemetry, staleness and legacy provenance advisories remain; no history was rewritten or unrelated item changed. Earlier local full-suite attempts under shared-host load were failed or incomplete and remain recorded in PM; no full local gate success is claimed. Complete required commands are verified by CI.

CodeRabbit inspected each of the four fixes at eab900b and resolved its own threads, explicitly without rerunning tests or checking CI. All thread replies were posted after pushing; the author never requested resolution. Issue #85 is addressed with canonical SDK approval identity and the closing clause below. Greptile's expired trial and skipped/neutral reviewer checks are missing review evidence. No final-head independent review approval, merge or release is claimed. Dependency pins, all statistical and quality thresholds, and disabled release approval are unchanged.

The original acceptance audit is recorded on each item: whrd, mjo5 and bi4v are Met against merged PR #79/#80 evidence. hncb is stale because it names CLI/SDK 2026.10.4 while main pins 2026.10.13; no stale certification or pin change was performed. Items remain open for orchestrator verification, and the learner follow-up remains open.

Walkthrough

This pull request adds bounded meta-training for terminal-disposition prediction from public tracker histories. It adds dataset construction, content-addressed recipes, durable training and evaluation, CLI and live-validation support, resource-drill test updates, and project records.

Changes

Tracker-history meta-training

Layer / File(s) Summary
Build and validate tracker datasets
dataset.ts, test/dataset.test.ts, test/fixtures/meta-workspace.ts, test/fixtures/tracker-histories.json
The builder extracts terminal-disposition examples from committed tracker histories. It creates repository-based splits and validates source eligibility, provenance, split identity, and isolation.
Bind recipes to training and evaluation
recipe.ts, loop.ts, tracker-environment.ts, test/recipe.test.ts, test/fixtures/tracker-signal.json
Recipes use bounded knobs and content digests. The loop stores and checks recipe identities. The tracker environment fits policies, scores meta-validation data, reports diagnostics, and reads final-test data for final comparison.
Run durable meta-training under approval
meta.ts, index.ts, test/meta.test.ts, test/fixtures/meta-controller.ts, examples/meta-approval.md, examples/meta-trackers.json
The runner validates approval budgets, records durable reservations and proposal receipts, evaluates candidates, and applies the statistical promotion gate. CLI commands and tests cover execution, resumption, cancellation, and budget enforcement.
Wire live validation and report results
scripts/live-meta.ts, scripts/live-watchdog.ts, package.json, .github/workflows/ci.yml, README.md, RECURSIVE_TRAINING.md, docs/durable-systemone-validation.md, docs/meta-recursive.md, docs/meta-live-evidence.json, docs/meta-sanity-evidence.json, manifest.json, .agents/pm/features/*, .agents/pm/history/pm-rl-meta.jsonl, .agents/pm/history/pm-rl-prefix.jsonl
The live command discovers eligible public repositories, builds a dataset, and runs bounded meta-training. Documentation and evidence report that real-data candidates did not promote and a synthetic signal test promoted a recipe. Package scripts and CI define release checks.
Exercise resource failure boundaries
test/fixtures/lm-compose-memory.ts, test/fixtures/lm-compose-trainer.ts, test/fixtures/lm-compose.Dockerfile, test/lm-compose.test.ts, .agents/pm/features/pm-rl-whrd.toon, .agents/pm/history/pm-rl-whrd.jsonl
The fixtures separate memory and time failure cases. Tests check OOM and deadline evidence, failed-job state, and the absence of successor runs. Project records report stabilization and verification.
Record project audit results
.agents/pm/tasks/*, .agents/pm/chores/pm-rl-hncb.toon, .agents/pm/history/*
Task and history records add audit comments and claim/release events. The chore records the version mismatch between its acceptance target and current package pins; no dependency or certification work is reported.

The inner-fit overlap check rebuilds a set of held-out ids for every training example, which wastes time on large splits. Hoisting it out of the callback is a trivial fix. No correctness risk remains from the reviewed findings.

Explanation

Issue #85 coding requirements are met. Approval references resolve to one SDK-canonical Decision identity before reservation matching, consumed-promotion accounting, and promotion persistence. Unreadable and wrong-type approvals fail closed. Tests cover canonical, uppercase, and short aliases across meta and ordinary/manual flows, reserved and single-free-slot concurrency, persisted aliases, owner exemption, resume, replay, and recovery. The reported pinned-SDK alias checks, unchanged npm/Bun release gates, and behavior-only revert proof pass.

Orchestrator review of the live receipt. The meta-loop and the gate behave correctly: they refuse to promote without held-out gain. One number needs explaining before this merges. All four candidate recipes score exactly 107/214, the incumbent ties them, and the final test stays at 198/385 before and after. Different learning rates, step counts and curricula producing bit-identical meta-validation scores suggests the learner's predictions do not depend on the recipe at all. For example, it may collapse to the majority transition class.

Please add to the receipt, and to a test where feasible:

  1. The majority-class baseline on meta-validation and final test. If it is also 107/214 and 198/385, the learner is not learning this task yet.
  2. Prediction diversity: the number of distinct predicted labels per candidate, and how far two candidates' predictions differ.
  3. A sanity environment where the right recipe must win: a synthetic split with a known learnable signal. This proves the outer loop can promote when real gain exists, so the null on the real trackers is a finding about the learner, not a bug in the plumbing.

If the learner cannot beat the baseline here, record that as the next feature (a learner that reads the history prefix, e.g. the bounded LM adapter on this environment), not as a weaker gate.

Addressed the orchestrator review in 030874dea041a32345e16cb9dd3791399bb50974.

Split Learner exact match Constant completed majority baseline Predicted labels
Meta-validation 107/214 = 0.5 for all four candidates and incumbent 211/214 = 0.985981308411215 108 completed, 106 cancelled
Final-test 198/385 = 0.5142857142857142 before and after 384/385 = 0.9974025974025974 199 completed, 186 cancelled

Every candidate predicts two distinct labels. All six candidate pairs disagree on 0/214 (0%), and every candidate also agrees with the incumbent. The cause is retention of the same zero-weight accepted seed checkpoint after every inner fit was refused. It is not a one-class prediction collapse. No real recipe promotes; gain is 0 and its lower bound is -0.21778781183411927. The real tracker learner does not beat the majority baseline. RECURSIVE_TRAINING.md and the PR body state this explicitly; pm-rl-prefix tracks a bounded learner that reads the history prefix, such as the existing LM adapter.

The committed known-signal fixture runs actual process fits and the outer controller with the exact live settings: two meta-generations, K=2, 40,000 inner evaluation samples, confidence 0.95 allocated as 0.9875 per comparison, minimum 10 samples and effect 0.01. Its stronger recipe 30eccf433a17 promotes in generation 1: 5629/10000 versus 4943/10000, gain 0.0686, lower bound 0.036740389785077876. Generation 2 retains it. Final-test improves 5093/10000 to 5806/10000, above the 5000/10000 majority baseline. This is synthetic sanity evidence, separate from the real-data null result. The gate and real-data programme are unchanged.

The bounded npm run test:live rerun passed in 58,251.420959 ms and reproduced the complete manifest and every original report field, adding only evaluator-produced aggregate diagnostics. Live receipt, sanity receipt, committed fixture.

The linked PM review test passes 2/2; both added behavior-only reverts fail with tests retained, and restored code passes. Exact-head CI passes npm run release:check on Node 22 and 26 and bun run release:check on Node 26: 613/613 each, no failures/skips/cancellations, 100% statements/lines/branches/functions, all 35 sources and 295 documented declarations. Release remains disabled; this PR is unmerged.

Thanks, that settles it. The loop is sound: the sanity environment promotes under the unchanged gate. The real-data null has two causes, and the follow-up pm-rl-prefix should address both:

  1. The learner never leaves its zero-weight seed, so every recipe yields identical predictions (0% pairwise disagreement).
  2. The task itself is near-degenerate. The majority class covers 211/214 on meta-validation and 384/385 on the final test, so even a perfect learner can barely show gain and accuracy is the wrong metric. Pick a real-tracker target with signal and balance: close-reason class, time-to-close bucket, or which ready item an agent claims next. Report balanced accuracy / macro-F1 against the majority and stratified baselines, and keep the repository-level splits.

Fine to merge this PR as the meta-loop infrastructure plus an honest null receipt once review is clean.

Review round complete at ef8210b1a1d534653c6d2d5194de699a584381c7. Exact-head CI passes the complete npm run release:check on Node 22 and 26 and bun run release:check on Node 26 with isolated HOME/Git identity. Each passes 628/628, zero failures/cancellations/skips, 100% statements/lines/branches/functions, 35 declared sources and 295 documented declarations; CodeQL also passes.

All four requested threads are fixed: case-insensitive exclusions, promotion-time retained-capacity accounting, the packaged sanity receipt, and fail-closed inner refusal classification. Replies were posted after push; CodeRabbit inspected each fix and resolved its own threads without executing tests. There are no unresolved review threads. The additional open issue #85 is fixed by canonical SDK approval identity across reservation matching, historical counting, new persistence and replay, and the PR body includes Fixes #85. Both issue regressions pass on pinned SDK 2026.10.13, including a guaranteed alias caller for canonical persistence. The latest evidence has 24 behavioral revert proofs, new-thread regressions 4/4, alias regressions 2/2, meta tests 28/28, and direct isolated lineage 51/51. The known PM-harness setup collision is retained as failed evidence rather than counted as a passing combined run.

The orchestrator acceptance review remains answered by the unchanged frozen receipts: all four real candidates 107/214, gain 0, lower bound -0.21778781183411927, no recipe promoted; final-test 198/385 before and after. Majority baselines are 211/214 and 384/385. Each candidate predicts two labels; all six candidate pairs disagree on 0/214. The learner does not beat the real-tracker baseline; pm-rl-prefix remains open. The synthetic signal promotes under the unchanged gate: gain 0.0686, lower bound 0.036740389785077876, final-test 5093/10000 to 5806/10000.

Fresh no-local clone strict health with merge drivers passes with the same three existing advisories. Histories remain append-only, the canonical checkout is clean, the implementation claim is released, and no items were closed. Dependency pins and thresholds are unchanged. PR remains unmerged with auto-merge unset and release disabled. No final-head independent review approval is claimed.

Minor review round complete at 474c95c572e11078e9aa9751dad5c4101a486e58. Exact-head CI passes npm release gates on Node 22/26 and the Bun release gate on Node 26: 628/628 each, zero failures/cancellations/skips, 100/100/100/100 coverage, all 35 sources and 295 documented declarations. CodeQL passes.

The disagreement-peer finding is fixed by unique (recipe digest, checkpoint) peers, with the incumbent included once. The known-signal regression requires [[1,2],[2,3]] peer counts; reverting only that collection logic fails 0/1 with [3,4] in generation 2. Restored linked baseline/known-signal tests pass 2/2. PM records 25 total behavioral revert proofs. The regenerated synthetic receipt removes the duplicate rows and refreshes synthetic compartment identities; all policies, learning scores, confidence bounds, promotions and final-test results are unchanged. Completed historical score receipts are adopted without rewriting their diagnostics. The real-data receipt remains unchanged.

The reply was posted after push; CodeRabbit inspected the code, test and receipt, explicitly did not execute tests, and resolved its own thread. No author resolution request or merge occurred. Issue #85 retains its existing fix and Fixes #85 body clause. Fresh no-local clone strict health with merge drivers passes with the same three advisories. Histories are append-only; pm-rl-meta is unclaimed and remains in progress. No new CLI/SDK issue was hit, no dependency or threshold changed, and release stays disabled. No final-head independent review approval is claimed.
