Adds explainChange and pm vcs explain for opt-in lifecycle, dependency, evidence and declared-policy interpretations of immutable native changes. Bounded statements cite their original commit, object and path; malformed tracker records stay opaque. Queries preserve tracker content and work without Git.

Review thread Correction
PRRT_kwDOToJT7M6vBSTL Pair duplicate collection values from the front, preserving the trailing addition/removal coordinates.
PRRT_kwDOToJT7M6vBSTC Run the full Bun release gate and explicit native Bun lens suite; execute the actual CI shell block in a runtime witness.
PRRT_kwDOToJT7M6vMtp8 Keep that witness optional for ordinary Node users: skip it when bash or bun is unavailable. An isolated-PATH regression covers each missing tool, while the explicit Bun CI gate remains required.
PRRT_kwDOToJT7M6vMtqF Trim the explain revision argument and default missing or blank input to HEAD, matching log/diff/show. The real SDK command harness checks omitted, empty, whitespace-only and padded explicit revisions in a plain-directory tracker.

All findings are valid. The latest review contains no outside-diff findings. Whole-diff review found no further instance of these defect classes in the added feature or witness. Review threads remain untouched.

Independent behavioural revert proofs:

  • Reverting collection matching to consume from the back fails the selected duplicate-coordinate regression (0/1 passed); restoration passes 1/1.
  • Removing only the explicit native Bun CI command fails the runtime witness (0/1 passed); restoration passes 1/1.
  • Removing only the witness availability guard makes node --test --test-name-pattern='^Bun witness skips' test/dependency-refresh-workflow.test.ts exit 1 (0/1 passed); restoration passes.
  • Reverting only the explain revision expression makes node --test --test-name-pattern='^CLI explain treats' test/tracker-lenses.test.ts exit 1 (0/1 passed); restoration passes. Both newly added selected regressions pass together 2/2. They import source directly and need no dist rebuild for the proofs.

Focused validation:

  • npm ci: pass, zero vulnerabilities. Build, test build and typecheck pass. Generated dist is ignored and has no committed files.
  • Pinned pm test pm-vcs-tracker-lenses --run --progress: 3/3 linked commands, 14 test executions (8 lens, 1 duplicate-coordinate, 5 workflow), zero failures/skips/cancellations.
  • bun test --timeout 120000 ./test/tracker-lenses.test.ts: 8/8, including the packed CLI without Git.
  • The complete workflow file with Bun removed from PATH succeeds: 4 pass, zero fail and exactly the intended one optional-witness skip. Both tools are available during normal release validation.
  • Strict tracker health passes with the CI-pinned project extension; two pre-existing advisory warnings remain. History stays append-only. The archive is regenerated only after explicit staging and independently verified after commit.

Final-head CI run 39787036223 passes on 7e951eed6c5bc98711ac328d3811951274fe7a7f:

Node Command Passing tests Statements / branches / functions / lines
22 npm run release:check 1,779 / 1,779 100 / 100 / 100 / 100
22 bun run release:check 1,779 / 1,779 100 / 100 / 100 / 100
26 npm run release:check 1,779 / 1,779 100 / 100 / 100 / 100
26 bun run release:check 1,779 / 1,779 100 / 100 / 100 / 100

All four suites report zero failures, skips, cancellations and TODOs. Every one of the 75 production sources passes all four coverage thresholds in each run. The explicit native Bun lens suite passes 8/8 on each matrix leg. Both Windows launcher checks, package-graph installation checks and CodeQL pass at this head. Committed archive acceptance and changelog validation pass locally and in the full CI gates.

The first local full-gate attempt caught a test-fixture environment typing error before coverage; an explicit NodeJS.ProcessEnv annotation corrected it. The corrected test build passes. This failed attempt is not counted as passing evidence. The corrected isolated local full run was subsequently stopped under shared-host contention (exit 143) and is also not counted as a passing gate; the exact-head CI above supplies the complete release evidence.

The documented read-only public-snapshot acceptance remains 799 statements in 40 pages at limit 20, with exact tracker hashes preserved and no Git repository; see contract, limits and example. Semantic evidence labels describe recorded entries, and policy labels describe declared item policy. Custom schemas unsupported by the pinned SDK remain opaque.

Tracker decisions and revert proofs: pm-vcs-tracker-lenses. The item remains in progress; its claim is released for verification.

Reviewer's Guide

This PR introduces a read-only vcs explain surface and SDK API that compares native changes against their first parent, optionally interprets canonical tracker fields through lifecycle, dependency, evidence, and policy lenses, and preserves exact bounded provenance with conservative opacity and typed refusals. It also adds extensive acceptance coverage and documentation, records the feature metadata, and changes CI to invoke consolidated npm and Bun release gates.

Appended duplicates were reported at the original index because matches were consumed from the back. Front pairing keeps the trailing entryAfter and agrees with trailing removals.
