fix: refresh Headscale version after updates - #10
A fast Headscale restart can happen between poll intervals, so no HeadscaleUp event is emitted. Meshpanel then retains the old version and Settings continues to offer the release that was just installed until Meshpanel is restarted.
Explicitly refresh the running Headscale version after a successful UI installation, before returning to Settings. The Check Headscale updates action also refreshes it, allowing recovery after an external CLI update. Refresh errors after installation are logged and reported separately without misreporting the completed install as failed.
Validation: make lint, go test -race ./..., and make size passed (30 MB). The regression test updates Headscale without a health-transition event and verifies that the installed release is no longer offered; it also checks manual refresh after a simulated CLI update. All touched named Go functions have documentation comments.

Bug Fixes
Update checks now refresh the running Headscale version before showing available releases, so the displayed version and update options reflect the latest state.
After an update installs, the running version is refreshed. If that refresh fails, the response includes a retry instruction.
Version refresh failures during an update check are reported, and the check stops rather than displaying potentially outdated release information.

only still-valid issues, skip the rest with a brief reason, keep changes
minimal, and validate.

Walkthrough
The serving code now provides a context-aware Headscale version refresh callback. The update handler refreshes the cached version before reporting release information and after installation, with error handling for both refresh paths.
checkVersion accepts a parent context, and the serving code passes its context to version checks. web.Deps exposes RefreshHSVersion as a callback to that check.
Refresh during update checks and installation internal/web/handlers_headscale_update.go, internal/web/headscale_update_test.go
The handler refreshes the version before reporting release information and after a successful install. The test checks that the cached version reflects the running version after installation and during a later release check.
velixio/meshpanel#8: Adds the Headscale update install flow that this change extends with version refresh behavior.

Merge Risk: Low · up to 51685
Settings can continue offering an installed release after overlapping refreshes or a failed update lookup. The change is mergeable with these bounded issues acknowledged.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to 51685
The existing owner restriction and independent installation checks remain in place. The remaining risk is stale version information if refreshes fail or overlap; no new security bypass was identified in the reviewed paths.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The added operation is bounded to reading the configured Headscale instance and updating Meshpanel's in-memory version observation. Request-supplied release tags do not select the refresh destination, and the callback introduces no new credential or installation-authority parameter.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The existing authenticated Settings route reaches an explicit owner check before either new callback invocation. Installation still requires the submitted tag to match the freshly fetched release and remains a separate injected operation.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — Installation failures return before the new refresh step. Browser disconnection does not cancel the established installation lifecycle, and refresh failure after completion remains distinct from installation failure, preserving recovery and audit semantics.

Serialize version refreshes.
A check started before an upgrade can finish after the post-install check and overwrite the new cached version with the old one. Settings can then offer the installed release again until another refresh occurs. Serialize the fetch-and-store operation so an older check cannot overwrite a newer result. Refresh the running version even if the release lookup fails.
If GitHub is unavailable or rate-limits the request, u.Latest returns before this refresh. After a CLI update, Settings can retain the old version and continue offering the cached release, even when Headscale is reachable. Run the version refresh independently of the release lookup and report both errors as appropriate. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
