Tracker:fetch now uses mode: "no-cors". A cors-mode request stops at a cross-origin 307/308 without CORS headers (for example from a customer's proxy), which sendBeacon followed. With a text/plain string body it stays a simple request, so there is still no preflight. The node runtime test and the web tracker tests require the mode.
Settings proxy recipes: the first-party snippet and the forwarded paths in nginx, Caddy and the Worker use the script directory from the site's real script URL, so a custom SUPERMETRY_TRACKER_PATH (e.g. /a/t.js → /sm/a/<id>.js) works. The client can't see SUPERMETRY_EVENT_PATH, so the self-hosted note tells operators to forward a changed event path.
Verified: make web-test (203 files / 1,441 tests), go test ./internal/tracker/, and the node tracker runtime test.
With a custom SUPERMETRY_TRACKER_PATH, per-site scripts are not under /js,
so the first-party snippet and the forwarded paths use the directory from
the site's real script URL. Self-hosters are told to forward a changed
SUPERMETRY_EVENT_PATH.

Walkthrough
The tracker now sends event requests with no-cors mode. First-party snippets and proxy recipes derive their script directory from the configured tracker URL. Tests check both changes, and the changelog records the fixes and self-hosted event-path guidance.
The tracker sets mode: "no-cors" on event requests. Both fetch mocks now check that option.
Custom script paths in proxy recipes web/src/features/settings/installRecipes.ts, web/src/features/settings/installRecipes.test.ts, CHANGELOG.md
The snippet and nginx, Caddy, and Cloudflare recipes use the script directory derived from scriptUrl, with /js as a fallback. Tests check custom paths and event-path notes. The changelog describes the fixes and self-hosted guidance.

Merge Risk: Moderate · up to f98e7
Operators who set a custom tracker path containing regex characters such as + or ( and use the generated nginx recipe will get a tracker script that fails to load, or an nginx config that fails to reload. Escape the directory in the nginx pattern before merging. The no-cors tracker change and the other proxy recipes look sound.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to f98e7
The intended changes preserve existing privacy checks and proxy protections. However, custom script directories are inserted into nginx routing expressions without escaping, so some configured paths can broaden routing or break deployment. Exposure depends on an operator deploying the generated configuration; credential disclosure or unauthorized account access has not been established.
Retained concerns
Low · security · inferred: The newly derived script directory is inserted directly into the nginx regular expression rather than matched literally. For example, a configured /v1.prod/ directory also matches /v1Xprod/, while other metacharacters can prevent matching or invalidate configuration. After an operator deploys the recipe, unauthenticated requests can reach unintentionally matched upstream paths; managed recipes attach the proxy-key header to those requests. This differs from the base's fixed js/ matcher. Key disclosure, downstream authorization bypass and cross-tenant access are not established.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The identified routing concern is conditional on a custom directory containing matcher-significant characters and an operator deploying the generated recipe. It affects that customer's proxy-to-analytics routing boundary, not a demonstrated fleet-wide or cross-tenant compromise.
Security Findings and Attack Paths
inferred — An external requester controls the requested path, not the configured script directory. Once a directory such as /v1.prod/ is deployed in the nginx recipe, the requester can select a different path accepted by the unescaped expression. Managed mode then forwards the proxy-key header to the fixed upstream. This establishes route expansion, not access to protected upstream resources.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — Countervailing controls include a configured upstream origin, cookie removal, nginx visitor-address header replacement and the Worker's literal prefix allowlist with rejection of unmatched paths. The recipe guidance keeps proxy keys out of browser code. These controls limit exposure but do not make nginx's derived expression literal.
Hardening Proposals
proposed — Encode the derived directory separately for each deployment matcher's syntax, preserving literal path semantics. Include metacharacter cases when validating generated routing configurations.

Support custom paths in the Next.js recipe.

Support custom paths in the Next.js recipe.
For a script under /a/, this recipe still installs an /js/ route. The component loads /js/script.js, and the SDK proxy only forwards /js/ scripts, so the configured tracker cannot load. Update the recipe and SDK proxy to support the configured path, or mark this recipe as unsupported for custom paths. See sdk/js/src/index.ts:146-150 and sdk/js/src/proxy.ts:75-89. Review comment at @web/src/features/settings/installRecipes.ts at line 417:
Update the Next.js recipe’s route configuration and SDK `proxy` so the
configured tracker path is used consistently for both script loading and
forwarding, rather than hard-coding `/js/`; if custom-path support cannot be
implemented safely, mark the recipe unsupported for custom paths instead.
Preserve the existing `/js/` behavior for the default path.

Escape the script directory in the nginx regex.
For SUPERMETRY_TRACKER_PATH=/v1+prod/script.js, this rule treats + as a regex operator and does not match /sm/v1+prod/<site>.js. The script fails to load. Escape regex metacharacters before inserting the directory. The configuration accepts paths beginning with /. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Valid. The nginx rule now escapes regex metacharacters in the script directory (Caddy and the Worker match literally, so they are unchanged). Fixed in eb6d48d.
