Skillforge

A monorepo for Claude Code skill plugins. Create, manage, and distribute skill plugins for Claude Code.

Quick Start

Create a new plugin

./scripts/create-plugin.sh my-plugin-name

Add a skill to an existing plugin

./scripts/create-skill.sh my-plugin-name my-skill-name

Validate a plugin

./scripts/validate-plugin.sh my-plugin-name

Test locally

claude --plugin-dir plugins/my-plugin-name

Installation

From marketplace (recommended)

# 1. Register marketplace (once)
claude plugin marketplace add https://github.com/vericontext/skillforge

# 2. Install a plugin
claude plugin install <plugin-name>

Update

Always run marketplace update first to fetch the latest index, then update the plugin:

claude plugin marketplace update
claude plugin update <plugin-name>@skillforge

Note: plugin update alone checks against the locally cached index. Without marketplace update first, it will report "already at the latest version" even when a new version exists.

Local testing (for development)

claude --plugin-dir plugins/<plugin-name>

Creating Skills

Each skill is defined by a SKILL.md file with YAML frontmatter:

---
name: my-skill
description: "This skill should be used when the user wants to..."
trigger: "/my-skill"
---

# My Skill

Instructions for Claude when this skill is activated...

See CLAUDE.md for detailed writing guidelines.
