Raycast's Zen Browser extension crashing on Windows #401

Description

@jeypiti

Extension name

zen-browser

Description

Raycast's Zen Browser extension crashes on Windows if the HOME environment variable isn't set.

The in-app crash reporter only says

Extension exited prematurely with exit code 1

but the log file reveals more:

info - Loaded extension store.raycast.zen-browser:search-history
info - Started extension zen-browser:search-history
error - Got crash "Error: $HOME environment variable is not set.

error - worker error: Error:$HOME environment variable is not set.
info - Worker store.raycast.zen-browser:search-history exited with code 1
error - Got crash "Extension exited prematurely with exit code 1"

I've traced this back to this condition in the extension. It seems like this should also throw in Raycast on the same Windows system but I guess it's caught.

The extension exposes a few preferences, this crash occurs regardless of their value.

On a side note, when HOME is set, the extension doesn't crash but instead enters a seemingly infinite loading state. From the log file:

info - Loaded extension store.raycast.zen-browser:search-history
info - Started extension zen-browser:search-history
warn - parseRenderPayload: failed: "1:8783: expected_quote
...:[{\"$t\":\"action-panel\",\"title\":null,\"stableId\":\"399fa4e2-4cf9-43...
                                  ^"
info - Unloaded extension store.raycast.zen-browser:search-history (ran 78.842s)
info - Worker store.raycast.zen-browser:search-history exited with code 1

Might be a separate issue though. And yes, that's how the caret was aligned when replacing \n with a newline.

Tested on Raycast?

Yes, it works on Raycast

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Raycast's Zen Browser extension
  2. Attempt to use one of its actions, e.g. "Search History"

Vicinae version

0.29.0
