What

Candidate: branch pipeline/codegen-orchestrator-1711, commit b9cbc90, tree 69ec8d0b735317684bef99a31ea6c9b501e8bb9d, based on main caf0507. One commit, no AI trailer. TASK.md not committed.

Why

Prepare a developer workspace with one fetch of the current default branch and the story branch, reducing the ordinary checkout path from five remote Git calls to four while retaining publication and exact remote readback. This advances sprint1496 d6 in codegen_orchestrator only.

How verified

CI runs Backend Docker-in-Docker Integration Tests, Build Service Image Candidates, Build Worker Base Image Candidates, CI Contract, Detect Changed Services, Fast Checks (Unit Tests), Lint (Ruff), Publish Service Image Release, Publish Worker Base Images, Required CI Gate, Service Image Entrypoint Imports on b9cbc9068354; the merge waits for them to pass.

Card: codegen-orchestrator-1711

The checkout reads the remote default and the story branch from one
ls-remote, fetches the advertised refs in one native fetch, then keeps the
non-force upstream push and exact readback: four remote Git calls instead
of five. An advertised branch that vanishes fails the fetch instead of
becoming an absent-branch success.
git branch refuses a repository whose HEAD is outside refs/heads, so the
unusable-default test reads refs/heads/story/no-default with for-each-ref.
