In the email version of an event, the bottom heading is "Invitees" but actually it contains the list of "Participants".
This is confusing at 2 levels.
- The meanings of "Invitees" and "Participants" are different and create expectations. An invited guest is expected to be on the agenda. But a participant is just someone who has registered their interest in that event. Therefore the value of listing them isn't high (but isn't null), but it's problematic to list them as "invitees" because it creates a wrong expectation.
The Calendar apparently does not really have an "invitee" category. There are "organizers", "groups" (in the sense target attendees), and "Additional individual attendees".
- The email version of an event lists a snapshot of who has signed up, as though it were a fixed and final list. Even if the email version listed them as "Participants" (which is what this is, and not "Invitees"), it would still be misleading, I think.
Given the above, I think of the following proposed solutions (listing in the order or preference):
A) For the email version of the event, replace "Invitees" by "Additional individual attendees" and add an intro paragraph such as "The following people have signed up so far:"
B) Do not include in the email version of the event the list of people who signed up so far.
