📦 Installation & Setup

Prerequisites

• Node.js (v18 or higher)
• MongoDB (Running locally or on Atlas)
• npm or yarn

1. Clone the repository

git clone https://github.com/wajihacodeofficial/BiteDash.git
cd BiteDash

2. Backend Setup

cd backend
npm install

Create a .env file in the backend directory:

PORT=5001
MONGODB_URI=mongodb://localhost:27017/bitedash
JWT_SECRET=your_jwt_secret_here
NODE_ENV=development

3. Frontend Setup

cd ../frontend
npm install

Create a .env file in the frontend directory:

VITE_API_BASE_URL=http://localhost:5001/api

4. Seed Database (Optional)

To populate the database with Karachi-specific restaurant data:

cd ../backend
node seed.js

🚦 Running the Application

Start Backend

cd backend
npm start

Start Frontend

cd frontend
npm run dev

The application will be available at http://localhost:5173.
