ProxCenter Wiki

ProxCenter is a self-hosted web management panel for Proxmox VE 8.x / 9.x. It covers the full lifecycle of virtual machines and LXC containers, a cloud-init template pipeline, networking and firewall, monitoring dashboards, snapshots and backups, an in-browser VNC console, multi-user permissions and an audit log, plus SSH brute-force protection, port and process anomaly detection and security baseline hardening. Apache-2.0.

Dashboard

The repository README is the authoritative source for the full feature list and every configuration option. This wiki only expands on the three things people actually get stuck on: installing, configuring and troubleshooting. If something is broken, start with Troubleshooting.

Where to start

I want to… Read
install it in one command, then change the password Installation
create a token on PVE and grant permissions (the step people trip over) Token and permissions
look up what some .env variable does Configuration reference
the panel will not open / lists are empty / PVE is unreachable Troubleshooting
reset a password for a user inside a VM or container Reset a guest password

Three-minute version

Step 1, create a token on a PVE node and grant it permissions. Do not use root@pam:

pveum user add panel@pve --comment "ProxCenter panel"
pveum user token add panel@pve panel --privsep 0
pveum acl modify / --user panel@pve --roles PVEVMAdmin,PVEDatastoreUser,PVESDNUser,PVEAuditor,PVEVMUser

The command prints a full-tokenid (like panel@pve!panel) and a token secret. You will paste both into the panel later.

Step 2, install it on the machine that will run the panel. Docker is the shortest path:

curl -fsSLO https://raw.githubusercontent.com/yjscloud/ProxCenter/main/docker-compose.yml
docker compose up -d

Sign in at http://<your-ip>:8080 as admin with ProxCenter@2026, then change that password. Prefer bare metal with sudo ./deploy.sh? See Installation; it generates random credentials and prints the initial admin password exactly once.

Step 3, after signing in, two things to do:

  1. top-right user menu → Profile → change the password;
  2. Settings → Proxmox connection → fill in host / Token ID / Token Secret.
