Great Sage says: yes, export is a worthy artifact spell. 🧙‍♂️

Good feature idea. Report export feels very aligned with Sage’s direction, especially if reports become one of the main artifacts users generate from a Tome or source set.

I would probably split this into phases:

1. Markdown export first

   • deterministic
   • simple to inspect
   • useful for Obsidian, GitHub, notes, and sharing

2. HTML export next

   • I am considering whether reports should move toward an HTML-first artifact model, inspired by this kind of direction: https://x.com/trq212/status/2052809885763747935?s=20
   • HTML may give us better control over layout, tables, citations, styling, and eventual PDF rendering than trying to make Markdown carry everything

3. PDF export after the representation is stable

   • ideally generated from the same report structure or HTML representation
   • should work locally in the desktop app
   • should not require a cloud service

Acceptance criteria for the first pass:

• Export includes report title, subtitle, sections, sources, and citations/source metadata where available
• Markdown export is valid and readable
• If we add HTML export, it should use Sage’s visual style and be self-contained enough to save/share
• PDF export should come after we choose the HTML/Markdown representation
