Unit Conversions

zpenoyre edited this page Aug 31, 2017 · 6 revisions

The package now does all unit conversions for you. You can change unit systems with

 iApi.setUnits()

The default is now "SI", but also available are "cgs", "Cosmology" (M_sun, kpc, Gyr, kms-1) and "Zephyr" (same as before but with kpc Gyr-1).

All values returned, by any function will now be in these units.

Physical coordinates are used throughout (though can be converted using the value for the scale factor at a given time/snapshot from getSimData() ).

**Exceptions: **

-The units used in getSimData are unchanged (boxsize in comoving kpc/h, masses in M_sun and time in Gyr).

-Magnitudes are not converted to luminosities.

-Tracer specific quantities are not converted.
